Favorite characters, and beyond....

RE: Favorite characters, and beyond....
Private, then corporal, then lieutenant, then major, then finally lieutenant colonel Richard Sharp is a pretty cool character. Sean Bean's is good as Sharpe in his way, but does not do full justice to the character in the novel.

Steven Maturin and lieutenant, lieutenant commander, post captain and finally rear admiral jack Aubrey are also cool characters. However Russel Crowe and Paul bethney mutilated both the characters and the atmosphere. An atrocious lack of appreciation for the subtler qualities of the novels.

It's been a long time since I've read Catch-22 but I remember loving the characters in that. I found Rabbit Angstrom from 'Rabbit, Run' interesting too.

I liked the proxies from Ergo Proxy.

I just finished watching Death Note and I liked the shinigami. I thought Rem was cool. While the forbidden / unrequited love thing is familiar I thought it worked into the story well:

Also, every time Ryuk snickered in the background it made me laugh Big Grin

Shadow was cool and had an awesome theme too:

And, of course, Quina. It just says the funniest shit:

Here's a hilarious cosplay of it:

After episodes 6, 1, 2, and 3, in that order, I can no longer think of the dark lord without thinking also of Dr. evil and mini me.

You gotta love any character with a fetish for cling-filming cats, and anyone else who gets in his way.

Although the series was excellent I just could not stomach Thomas Covenant.

One of the most annoyingly wishy washy characters of all time.

However, speaking of Michelle Yeoh....

I can't help it. I fell in love with Alistair in DAO Big Grin

G'Kar and Londo Mollari are my absolute favorites from Babylon 5. I absolutely hated G'Kar in the beginning, but he really grew as a person during the series. Londo on the other hand became more loathsome, but they both were excellently written. Not to mention all the comic relief they provided Smile

His Dark Materials is my favorite book series and Lee Scoresby was just so cool. His daemon Hester wasn't half bad either.

When I read through the Harry Potters as a kid, I just thought that Dumbledore was superübercool. When I reread them as an adult, I realized so much better what he actually was about and appreciated him as a person, not quite as indestructible as I perceived him as a child, but as a human with faults too. Though, still really awesome.. Big Grin

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
