What's the world coming to. People can't even laugh at the corpse of a child now? Corpses are fucking HILARIOUS. I remember this one time, my little sister wouldn't stop crying. My uncle told her to shut up, but she just kept doing it. So he walks over to her and slams her little head against the wall. "Shut up!" he screams. "Shut up!" He just keeps saying it and shaking her. Then he lets go and she falls like a limp doll onto the polished floorboards. He just stands there, sort of half crouched like she's still standing before him and his hands begin shaking. Anyway, it turns out that his uncle (on his mother's side) was the guy that suggested to David Letterman that he should try getting a job in TV. Small world, huh?

Yes I get that but then it isn't an offhand comment which started it is it? Its someone who wanted to take a comment a very particular way. The person who made the comment is at no fault.

Did I say any of those things? I said there was an off-hand comment and that it snowballed from retorts. Saying something snowballed assumes that there was something to get that ball rolling, yes? Honestly, it's not necessarily you, but I am getting a little peeved with people picking arguments with me based on things I never said.

damn, this is not what I had intended with my remark about "loser idiots" who dress up for movie premiers. It was just a quick one handed remark regarding my own biased opinion of people who dress in silly costumes of lame superheroes.

I sure as hell didn't mean to start a whole thread from it. I thought I was just giving the "pro-costumers" a little friendly ribbing.


I take it all back. Costumes are awesome and one should feel blissfully happy when they get a chance to wear one in public at any occasion.

What makes you think you can make a judgment about people's intelligence and popularity based on what they choose to do for harmless fun? Just because it's not something you wouldn't choose to do doesn't give you license to judge someone for it. I personally wouldn't dress up for a movie premiere, but I'm certainly not going to judge people who do; it's their prerogative what they do, and if it makes them happy, what right do I have to think less of them for it?

I should perhaps be more specific with my meaning. You have the technical right to believe whatever you want about anyone you want. What I'm not understanding is the basis with which you make such judgments about people. Calling someone a "loser idiot" for doing something entirely harmless that you might not see yourself doing is ridiculous.

When I say "what right do I have to think less of them for it?" what I more precisely mean is "what basis do I have to think less of them for it?" There is virtually no reason to make value judgments about other people's intelligence and supposed popularity based on choosing to dress up for a movie premiere, something that isn't all too uncommon for such films.

I can see why someone would think it's pointless or perhaps even a little silly, but that doesn't warrant them being losers or idiots because of it.
