Writings during the lifetime of Jesus?

RE: Writings during the lifetime of Jesus?
From Gambit's opening post: "So here is my question: Can anyone provide me with examples of people/writings that referenced Jesus, during his lifetime? Any priests, philosophers, leaders, scribes, will do."

I believe he was asking if there is any written evidence outside the Bible that Jesus even existed. The cited works are those for which he was looking, I think.

Tacitus, of course was a pagan and no friend of Christianity.

Why is this relevant? This was written after Jesus supposedly existed.

Quote:(Suetoius, Life of Claudius 25.4)

Suetonius was another ancient pagan Roman historian who was anti- Christian.

Suetonius, again, existed after Jesus. So still not relevant to the OP.

Quote:(Babylonian Talmud)

Notice that the ancient Jewish book does not deny that Jesus did miraculous things, but instead claims they were evil sorcery meant to dupe the people.

The Talmud, written in the 2nd century CE.

Again, after Jesus.

Facepalm Urgh I hope you actually come up with something written at the time of Jesus like the OP asked for.

Yes, my mistake. Not sure why sure why such a requirement placed on the evidence is necessary.

Good job you're not a historian.

Yes, during the life of Jesus. I have already looked into the writings you mentioned, spockrates, but thanks for posting them anyway.

It would probably be a good idea for you to look into the criticism of said evidence anyway.

Funny you should mention that; it's exactly what I was doing when I arrived at the question in my OP.

1- The answer to your question is no.

2- Spocky is an idiot who does not understand what the words "during his lifetime" even mean.

3- Early xtians were so embarrassed by the lack of references to their godboy that they went back and forged some.

Here is Remsberg's list of first century writers who don't seem to know anything at all about the xtian's little godboy.

Thanks, Min. I had already read a similar review that pointed those out. All of the sources seem to suggest that respected Christian historians agree that they are forgeries, so I'd be interested in reading such reviews.
