Wow, you have a few isolated cases allegedly.
Got any proof this is a widespread problem within the movement, never mind one actively promoted by the leadership of the OWS movement?
Re: my earlier question, let me underscore why the links you provided can't be used to demonize the movement:
1st link: There's no indication in the story that the perp was even a protester at the OWS movement in LA and that most of the article was about tension between the mayor and the movement.
2nd link: The perp was a protester and was arrested for his alleged crime. There was no indication he was acting on any orders of the OWS leadership nor did he derive any inspiration from the OWS movement to commit the alleged crime (see recent cases of right wing violence for comparison and contrast). He will be held accountable for his individual actions if found guilty.
3rd link: This story actually discredits your attempt to link the OWS movement to any crimes committed by individuals in their camp:
From the story:
Quote:"These protests have a history of welcoming everyone and just assuming they're on your side," said David Meyer, a professor of sociology at the University of California at Irvine, who studies protest movements.
The recent reports of assaults have created a problem the "Occupy" movement is being challenged to address head-on.
...
"There is nobody working the doors at these protests," professor Meyer said. "There has to be a set of social sanctions or norms, but that's the struggle with any movement."
In other words, there are predators and criminals who will enter protest camps to commit crimes against the protesters.
Quote:Some of the measures being implemented in camps include a well-lit, female-only sleeping area and a night security watch, which numbers 15 people at any given time, Burke said.
So the movement is, in fact, taking measures to ensure the safety of their fellow protesters.
More right wing manufactured outrage.

Lol @ OWS 'anarchists'. I went to Wall Street and spoke to many of them. For anarchists they were quite a perculiar bunch. They wanted Glass Steagal back amongst other things. Hardly anarchist thinking, more moderate than anything else, many were Democrats and there were some obvious Republicans too, plus a fair few libertarians(of the Ron Paul ilk). It's not a left wing political movement, it's a 'stop fucking us' and an anti 'socialism for the 1% and capitalism for the rest' - group. They have multiple reasons to be pissed, and quite rightly given that the wealthiest have creamed $7.7tn from the bust, whilst the cheque lies at the feet of 95%. An the Republicans, ridiculously, want the 95% to bear even more of the financial burden.
Our most right wing paper had this article on American right wing extremism, which is the most prevelent extremism in the US and Europe. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew...to-US.html

I remember when this report came out in America.
Our eardrums nearly split open from the piercing shrieks of indignation that erupted from the Republican camp. How DARE this report suggest that right wing hate groups might try to recruit returning members of our armed forces. How DARE this report suggest that right wing groups were a threat.
No apology yet from the Republican camp when it turned out that once again, they were wrong.

Throw shit and hope it sticks, never apologize if it doesn't, just throw it harder. This is the heart and soul of Republican publicity strategy, and it says something about the caliber of American electorate that it works.
If republicans don't like the Harry Reid strategy, tough shit, turn about is fair play.

That we're as susceptible to relentless propaganda and fear-mongering as anyone else.
I'm convinced the right wing studied Pravda very carefully. They've managed to implement what they learned overtly in Fox and to a lesser, more subtle degree, the other major news networks.

Quote:The left is quick to point out and criticize all those horrible extreme 'eccentricies' like flag waving, patriotism, and love of country,...but when extremes, like rape, rioting, burning and vandalizing private property, assault, drug use, attacking police are coming from far left anarchists like the 'Occupy Wall Street' terrorists you guys are silent.
If you can say those of us on the left support OWS so completely that we also support the few who commit crimes, then as a Republican and a Christian, you must accept responsibility for every crime your rhetorical brethren commit, regardless of the fact that most in the mainstream would never support such an action. Every murder of an abortion doctor, every case of clerical pedophilia, every avoidable death caused by right-wing opposition to medical science, and every bit of reprehensible enslavement of children's minds through the fear of God and eternal torture in hell.
Seems fair to me.

Seems fair to me. No. That's not what I said. I said the left is quick to berate all those so-called horrible 'eccentricies' of the Tea Party like flag waving, patriotism, and love of country but are silent about the crimes committed by far left anarchists like the OWS terrorists. I'm not at all implying that everyone on the left supported the ones who committed those crimes. I'm simply pointing out that the left is blinded by their own hatred, hypocrisy, and double standards.

This is a bullshit generalization. Not only does it imply that silence equals endorsement — it doesn't — but I personally have been a tireless critic of the Occupy movement, to the point of being called "ignorant and nasty" for my views. (At of all things a philosophy roundtable about non-political issues.) And while I'm not necessarily progressive or liberal, I'm certainly not conservative. (And I recall that after that meeting, my fellow philosophical soulmate who is in fact a liberal democrat voiced similar opposition to the Occupy movement.)

I'm just curious. Are you as outspoken against anti-abortion terrorists as you are against Occupy Wallstreet terrorists?

Of course he is, because if he wasn't, he wouldn't be justified in talking about double standards, would he?

You should understand, we hate a lot of teaparty eccentricities, it's just that those eccentricities are the racism, bigotry, xenophobia and religious zeal on easy display at any teaparty rally. We don't hate the rah rah America stuff, though we take offense to the idea that the teaparty's heavy use of American iconography implies that the aforementioned evils are representative of all Americans. Those guys should invent their own flags and symbols instead of stealing the ones that belong to everyone.
