The appropriate moderation between being rational and skeptical is up to the individual person them self. There is no universal law, moral law, nor judicial law detailing the amount of rational or skeptical thinking one man can posses or choose to enact upon. This is a choice, your choice, mine.

But what if one's personal decision is irrational?

How would you determine that without skepticism? The guy said he was being rational, right?

What's irrational to you, is not always irrational to others. Look at the theist for example. It's up to you to decide for yourself, for only yourself what is deemed irrational or rational. In the long run it won't even matter, we all turn to dust eventually in this short life we all live.
I personally find it irrational to be stuck on defining what means to be irrational with when that logic in its self is irrational. Simply because it doesn't matter lol.

But this leads to a rather curious state of affairs, where what anybody does is rational to them. Even the theist. Even the murderer. Even the rapist.
We need some measure of objectivity to call certain things objectively bad or wrong, don't we?

Skepticism straight on to morality...lol. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. I don't need any such measures. I don't call anything objectively bad or objectively wrong. Others might -I don't- and as such there are no such requirements.

Technically it's based on what you prefer so really, it everyone person deemed rape to me a moral act it would. And life would go on.

Whether or not any given person would rape someone has what to do with whether or not it's objectively morally good or bad? Not a damned thing.

lol I think the right question would be, is it considered rape in that type of society. And no, I don't have the heart to do such to another person.
