Glasses don't make people nerds but it does make them look slightly more intelligent. Don't know why, just does. The number of times I've spoken to a woman with glasses and thought they looked like they'd have something really intelligent to say just to learn that they don't even need glasses and their depth can be perfectly illustrated by a puddle of urine.

Are you suggesting that attractive girls can't be nerdy? Keep in mind that I spend way too much of my free time playing World of Warcraft and I know final fantasy games better than damn near anyone I know.

Ugh, WoW keeps dragging me back. I can't quit it, there were some very hot girls in my last guild =P.

Final Fantasy doesn't make someone nerdy. XD There's nothing to know about them. From a storytelling perspective they're all actually really bland.

Now, someone who knows Tolkien, or at least Warhammer 40,000, to a level of detail? THAT'S nerdy.

I live in a country where people are (more often these days) sent to jail for saying something racist, or at least, something perceived as racist. Now I'm not a racist, and I find the people who are disgusting, but I will defend their right to espouse their ideas and beliefs in the same way I am allowed to espouse mine. When a government starts dictating what people can and cannot think or say, you have to start wondering if they are on a slippery slope.

I do agree with you on this now, as long as there are laws making prosecution against assault to defend yourself against racism more lenient, as long as there are witnesses to confirm that the assault was provoked.

I know. I'm in a similar boat except I don't know that I have many hot girls in my guild.

I've only been playing for about 2 years now; got in just before Cata started and I have a pretty elite resto shammy (I love some of the end game gear you get). However, the damn time sink keeps eating all my free time and I don't want to be distracted from school now that the school year is starting up again. I could renew my subscription and upgrade my account with MoP here in another 10 days, but I really need to wait for this semester to be over if I'm going to get back into it; I need to pull my grades up.

Storytelling, you're mostly right. From a gameplay perspective, I know every secret to the games, inside and out. Although, I'll be the first to admit, the series peaked with Final Fantasy 7 and it's been mostly downhill since. 10 was fun, but 11 was an MMorpg and I never bothered to get the network adapter for my PS2 so I've never really played it. Afterwards, 12 was fun but it was so vastly different from any of the previous FF games that it's hard to judge. Then we got 13 and that damn game makes me want to fucking vomit.

Ooh! Tolkien! I read The Hobbit back when I was in 6th grade and LotR over the next few months and I've loved them ever since. I tried reading some of the other Tolkien works on Middle Earth, starting with The Silmarillion but they just didn't have the same good story telling behind them that the others did.

I dunno, FF7, to me, is not worth all the hype. And before people get out the pitchforks, take in mind that I view a game in how well it ages along with comparable games of the time, and truth be told I found the Fallout games to be far more engaging in both storytelling and gameplay than anything Final Fantasy ever managed to dredge up. Final Fantasy 10 was uplayable to me; the gameplay was decent, but the horrible cutscenes that could not be skipped, the vacant, bland, dimwitted and outright fucking obnoxious main character, and the TERRIBLE voice acting along with the no-surprises generic plotline just killed it. That's the "problem" with modern games with stories; if you intertwine the story into the gameplay, you cannot separate them. You cannot have one good and one bad and expect the game to be judged solely on the good or the bad, they are inextricable. And FF10's story and characters were so friggin' bad that it made the experience as a whole unpleasant. Nevermind FF-10-2 which I refused to even touch after watching a friend play it for an hour, holy fuck it was baaad...
