Haha, and here I thought I was the only one. Most of my characters aren't 'evil' or 'criminally-minded', so suddenly finding them being put to death for absolutely no reason (and they don't seem to want me dead afterwards either) is extremely jarring.

And yes... have the dunmer who basically cap-out on effectiveness relative to other races by around level 15-20, nords and imperials with absolutely terrible effects and very niche stat distribution for level efficiency, and khajiit can be decent monk characters as long as one doesn't level much past their maximum dps (race also has decent starting stats for a variety of characters). We don't even talk about the Bosmer's greater power... and their stat bonuses largely mirror the theme of Khajiit. Would not have included the dunmer in this list if they weren't so effective at early-midgame.

Still, even depending on playstyle... Orcs will probably do better than any other character once a day in just about every situation (double damage output alone) and start with a dual crafting bonus... as well as making Nord an almost-pointless race. Altmer have 5 free levels worth of extra magic at level one and can probably do better than any other mage character due to that stat spread and the retarded mana regen. I think other races have less powerful bonuses, with argonians/redguards/bretons ahead of the rest of the pack.

Still, I could be swayed with some good argument Tongue Two ideal 'tank' characters, and the dual-wielding paragon.

Early game, Khajiit dominate with their claws. Further, they potentially have the most level-efficient character for a 'generic thief'. However, I would argue that when push comes to shove, and they are forced to battle two dragons, a sabre cat, a couple of giants, a mammoth, and a few errant bandits: running is probably their best option. I know... I have a level 36 Khajiit thief character who is currently stuck on a save where she does have to fight 2 bandits, a sabre cat, a giant and a mammoth, and a couple bandits XD This is why you never run from bandits through a giant camp in the general direction of a dargon's roost... TT__TT

Unfortunately, my 'out of stealth' presence on the character is pretty damn weak. Undecided

But you're right... Orcs don't get a fair shake. Neither do the beast races, and in Skryim: the elves.

It adds a piece of gear that you can wear atop another piece of gear (at least as a khajiit). Stat bonuses on gear are more combat-oriented than thieves guild bonuses.

An under-utilized power in my elf, I might add. I use Aura Whisper and Dragonrend and that's about it.

You know... shouting is my least-appreciated addition to skyrim. It gives you another combat tool, which is nice... but I find myself using it rarely. I simply don't need it :X

Yeah, by now on my elf I don't rely on it really except to bring the Dragon down, and then I find more satisfaction in beating the shit out of the dragon than doing anything else. Not that the Shout relay time allows for much else.

Meanwhile, I never use it to call weather or animals, as I'm rarely out in the wilds fighting and don't need the help with the dragons (perhaps I'll need more if I enter into a situation like you found yourself in). I've used Whirlwind Sprint a handful of times, and Fire Breathe always seemed to set my companion on fire to disastrous effect. Disarm or Unrelenting Force was useful against a bunch of undead minions but otherwise...

It is a cool concept, but the "time" you have to wait is far too long and I think would be more appreciated if it were halved. I also like the little notation that because of this power, battles between dragons are actually verbal sparring. That adds something to the story. Combat-wise though...

That's your bonus for playing bosmer. 5 points in archery. They have *no* other offensive bonus, and their crafting bonus is in alchemy... so unless you intend to hax the game? Also: points in locpicking are completely useless. Somehow all of south-eastern tamriel was cursed with +5 and +10 lockpick. I wouldn't have the argonians on this list at all if it weren't for Histskin.

Steroids: making the useless useful since Skyrim's Orcs.

Haha... that's a horrible mistake sort of situation. Exploiting your way up to level 30 from having 100 pickpocketing and 100 sneak and 90 speech, and moderately high archery atop wasted skillpoints from randomly smithing/chanting/alchemy/skill books and terrible quests (I have some 45 useless 1-handed skill)... and yet I have a dwarven bow. Level 35... dwarven bow.

And then, I do the kill kemantu quest... only to enter into a 'murder your character' bandit encounter outside the cave, as well as a double dragon attack. Ran through sleeping tree camp, and with both the dragons and bandits partially occupied I saved and turned to attack them (no potions, no steroids, weak shouts). Moral of the story: if you have haxed your level retardedly high for your gear, and spent a ton of time within instanced towns (whiterun, markarth and blackreach, riften, solitude), and fast travel to a dungeon... bad things happen when you come out of that dungeon. Tongue

I rarely use companions. Tried it for the first time on my impact-haxing mage... and found that they just increasingly annoyed me as time went on. Got rid of lydia at level 25.
