He sounds as if you approach him about needing treatment, that he'd be highly likely to start thinking you were out to get him, Creed. That doesn't bode well for the general safety of the household. I'd focus on getting him out of the apartment. Do you have contact info for his family? If so, I'd consider talking to them about how paranoid and delusional he is. They'd probably be aware if this is a normal state for him or if his illness is progressing and needs emergency treatment.

I would go to any relevant authorities with you apprehension regarding this particular individual CoH.

Move. You can't reason with these types of people. Doing so might put yourself in danger, especially given the information about him being paranoid, armed, and that he's killed before (and enjoyed it).

When the lease ends, just move out.

The only problem is that moving would require both me and my room-mate to move...and moving is far more costly than we can afford (we're living very, very hand-to-mouth right now) Reason we'd both have to move is because neither of us are in a financial position where we can live without rooming [hence why we live together, it's more fiscally sound].

I do not have personal contact info for his family, but I'm going to ask the apartment management if they are on file when I talk to them today.

Do the authorities know where this person is? Are you able to access any information from them?? Letting the "apartment management know of you situation is also a good thing

First and last month's rent? Deposits? If you ain't got it, you ain't got it. I suppose if you're moving to a dumpster or cardboard box you could do it for $50. :p

That being said, I'm gonna side with John V on this one - if you've got safety concerns, someone's gotta go, and if he won't, it's going to have to be you. That's the cold reality of it.

You can't make people do what they don't want to do. All you can do is make your own changes, i.e., move or work on evicting him for cause.

Evicting is messy, possibly expensive and could trigger one of those psychotic episodes. Given your lease is almost up, moving seems like the best option. Safety is paramount.
