Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought what you were trying to say was:
You don't cling to the historical event of slavery as it did not effect you personally, and you find no need to cling to it as justification for a debt owed to you for the same reason. I did not feel that you were condoning it. Is this a fair interpretation?

Here you make reference to a specific instance of slavery. You are not speaking about slavery over-all, but a specific historical period and the events within that period. When you ask what being angry does, it brings attention to the fact that there is no longer an active perpetrator to direct your anger toward and then you suggest absurdities to illustrate that consolation for the acts in question can not be attained as they have long since transpired. Is this fair?
I sense anger in the post, and perhaps that anger can lead a reader to make assumptions on your position. You were then forced into the ring to fight a battle of morality, but your OP seemed to be more about letting go of the past, and not so much an attempt to establish a moral paradigm. If this is a fair assessment of your post, I think it may be wise for you to gather your thoughts, and construct a more accurate representation of your views on morality in a separate thread, so that you may have more carefully constructed ideas to defend, rather than a misunderstood post about vindictive behavior.

At the risk of repeating something, because I'm lazy and only made it to the third page:
I would hazard the guess that the blacks who piss and moan about slavery still fall into several categories. Some cite slavery as an example for certain ills still perpetuated in society today - many legitimate complaints.
Some do it because they're fucking lazy human beings. That has nothing to do with race. I see plenty of white bastards hanging around down here complaining that niggers and spics took their jobs. If you're the kind of person who'd rather complain, you'll find any reason you can to justify being a lazy bitch.
Some people do it because without the history their people went through, they'd lose their sense of worth. Some months ago, a friend forwarded me an article in which a bunch of descendants of Holocaust survivors were trying to 'prove' that physical trauma can be genetically transmitted through your children into a propensity for depression and other problems. It's complete bunk, and nothing more than the next Jewish attempt to feel like some sort of special collection of people.
There comes a point when the perpetrators and the victims of atrocities have all died, and it's time to move forward understanding that what happened should never be repeated. I think the concept of reparations going to descendants rather than the actual victims is more than ridiculous.
I won't get into the discussion about slavery still going on, since I think the OP was mostly about slavery here in America as pertains to blacks.

People contradict. And? So what about my "ancestry"?
And yes, I don't give a shit about slavery. Is there a reason why I should? And humans are cruel. Do you dispute this? Cruel actions occur all the time. Look at the horrors in Syria or other places. Don't be soured to reality.

When you say "ancestry", you mean history of ownership right?
What about your ancestors? Are they the ones who sold their own into slavery or were they simply too inferior compared to rival tribes?
If I believed in morals, I'd say that the ones who did the selling are worse than the buyers.
dazzn, do you hate blacks for what they did?

Sadly, I don't believe it is the slavery itself that is bothering the black people. I see it as a way of getting away with priorities. (No offense)
Of course I'm not to generalize but the vast majority of those who actually whine about this are doing it for that purpose. Then, there may be some sensitive blacks, just like all other humans.
Think with simplicity, and you will solve the most complex questions in the universe.

You may hate yourself, but I don't.
As for my ancestors, well as morals are transitory, then it lends to the actions of people centuries ago being morally correct. Or we at least we cannot objectively condemn them.

OK, so morals are subjective, but we should never allow slavery to occur again?
Don't worry, most are contradictory.
