Why eels? Lots of animals have this type of behavior... Salmon come to mind... Birds migrate and have breeding grounds they return to. Fuck, Emperor penguins walk long distances across Antartica to their breeding grounds, instinctively knowing that in the spring the ice will melt and the ocean will be close by as a source of food and swimming training for their young. That's cooler than eels. Still doesn't prove god though.
