Older films used to refer to zombies eating people's brains, but modern zombie films refer more to them feasting on human flesh. The only new movie I have seen make mention of eating the brain was Warm Bodies.

Actually that was Return of the Living Dead that started all that. They have been flesh eaters for longer.

...actually, zombie movies have been around for longer than that but were more associated with the supernatural and voodoo...and those zombies didn't eat human flesh. They were basically hypnotized and controlled through some sort of supernatural ritual...the forerunner to the modern epidemic flesh eating zombie movies that we know was a 1964 movie called 'The Last man On Earth' (AKA, I Am Legend) that starred Vincent Price. George Romero used that movie for his inspiration to create 'Night Of The Living Dead'.
