Christian Minister responsible for thousands leaving the church

Christian Minister responsible for thousands leaving the church
Finnish Minister of Internal Affairs, Päivi Räsänen (Christian Democrats), is at it again. In 2010 during an official debate about gay marriage on national TV, she voiced her disgust for homosexuals and that in turn led to almost the double amount of people leaving church. (Year 2009 44 000 signed off, in 2010 the amount was 81 000.)
This year a week ago she held a speech in which she compared homosexuality to pain and abortion to slaughter. Once again the people didn't take kindly to such speech and this time around about thousand a day left the church the following weekend.

Thank you Minister Räsänen! Even though you are a sanctimonious cunt, who shouldn't dabble in politics, I am ever so grateful and hope that you will voice your opinions even more. I get immense pleasure seeing you destroy that which you hold dearest.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

She isn't responsible for Chrisitians leaving the church! They are.

That's like leaving the USA because of Obama being elected. He might not represent the country the way I like. But I know that my country
will withstand his tenure. And he doesn't necessarily speak for me, or all Americans.

It reminds me of a time I was standing around with a bunch of fellow workers, and a new ped-priest was herded in. We were talking
about his crimes when one of my co-workers proclaimed; "thats why I don't go to church!" The others agreed. Angered (of course) I
said: "is that your only excuse?" There was silence, (of course) and dispersal.

No...we are responsible for our actions in life.

I actually agree with this.

But I would guess we're coming at it from a different angle. "The times they are a changin'", and attitudes towards homosexuality are now such that it is no longer viewed as a negative or symptom of a deviant behaviour.

This is where the split, even the schism, of older world view attitudes and new ones is most apparent. I would argue the new ones are the better ones, and why the people who left did so. They didnt like the old view, so refused to be apart of it.

There was silence and dispersal because you douche-moved them. Getting angry and implying that the situation called for an excuse - or that anyone was providing you with an excuse.

-sounds legit.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Indeed. The curious thing is that you would expect that they knew her position on such issues already. Are they objecting to her expressing them publicly? Did they not really know that a Christian minister would speak out against gay marriage and abortion?

Makes you wonder why they didn't make their decision much sooner.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

It's refreshing to know that even xtians....yourself obviously an exception...have a limit to their toleration for bullshit.

The church is dying because of dumb cunts like that. We need more of them!

Those people who left would probably have done it sooner or later, but she was definitely the catalyst for it. She opened her mouth, and people signed off en masse. There's a service on the net called eroakirkosta.com for those wishing to leave the Finnish state church and their statistics clearly show a correlation between Räsänen's blunders and why the church has lost so many of it's followers.

I won't go into how the election of the ministers and parliament is done, but let's just say that the Finnish people are not so forgiving when their representatives are being bigoted. Religion might be big everywhere else in politics, but here it's isn't tolerated that you piss on a certain group of people as an elected official, this is what you get. Sermons are kept for those who come to hear them, not for the political arena.

Ok! But, like my co-workers, they were/are looking for an excuse.

If my car is dirty I don't usually get rid of the car. I figure out a way to get the shit off of it!
