How stupid do you have to be?...

Quote:5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this. You'd think a fucking god would have bigger things to worry about, no?
I particularly like this timeless piece of biblical wisdom.
Quote: If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
How's this for benevolence?
A Rebellious Son 18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. All that for being a drunkard? I'm glad somebody came up with rehab as an alternative to God's solution (stoning).
You do understand that the bible is a book that represents two separate religions correct?
You also understand that the passages you are looking at have nothing to do with Christianity correct?
Deuteronomy and Leviticus are FULL of crazy shit. How can so many people, who would otherwise be intelligent, gather on sundays to worship a God from a book that contains all of this stuff?? I can't figure it out.

~ Erin Hunter Quote:You also understand that the passages you are looking at have nothing to do with Christianity correct? Then why did you dickheads attach it to your fucking bible? Is there a disclaimer on the front that says "For historical interest only. Pay it no mind?" How can you lie like that and still think you are a xtian? Oh, right. the prohibition against lying is in the OT. (September 9, 2013 at 1:26 pm)Drich Wrote: You do understand that the bible is a book that represents two separate religions correct? Says you. But, no where in the bible does it say that Drich will come along and get to be the authority on crazy-Christian shit Vs. Regular crazy shit. It's all in your book, and Jesus never says to throw it out. (September 9, 2013 at 1:26 pm)Drich Wrote: You do understand that the bible is a book that represents two separate religions correct? The problem is that it's still the same god. We know you have justified to yourself why you don't have to follow these rules, but the fact remains that you still worship a god that thought these rules were a good idea.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
