A conclusion about theists on this forum

Their only issue with the Holocaust is that it was Hitler and a his underlings ordering it and not god.
The reason is say this not because I think Christians are evil. There good people I know that Christian s despite that evil god. However to know this being ordered such heinous crimes and then to watch people like drich or ronedee try to justify it is sickening.

Well strictly speaking, there's not much - if anything - that one type of Abrahamic monotheist can say to another who commits atrocities. More specifically, given that there are atrocities in the Bible commanded by God unto the Israelites, you can't actually know that Loony Theist X isn't under God's instructions to do so for some higher purpose. I think Sam Harris pointed this out to William Lane Craig in their debate, and all that Craig mustered (if I remember correctly) was by saying that "Well, on atheism you have no basis for saying anything is evil."
Now I know all theists aren't Craig parrots (then again...), but it's not an easy criticism to brush off. It's a real epistemic and moral issue for theists.

I don't quite get it, they advocate past genocides that never happened by a deity that doesn't exist. I mean this isn't really outrageous in anything but it's silliness.

It's more of the mindset that would advocate a genocide today, if the got the idea that their non-existent deity whispered the right words to them. Obviously, none of our local crackpots has any chance of being the next Hitler, but it's scary to know that there are people like that living among us.
