I will highlight the parts for you that tells you what you have to do to receive, not to find or open a door.

5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread[d] from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

So as you can see you only have to ask to receive. You do not need to seek or knock to receive. So I say again the above is bullshit because I asked and did not receive.

you are cherry picking. In the context of the story the persistant neighbor did not stop at asking. It was a 3 fold effort that yielded results, or does that not matter because you highlighted bits of the story and pasted them together to make a new story?

Again if you want to test or take God up on His promise then you have to follow the instructions as written. In the Story Jesus told the neighbor Asked, Sought and Knocked. He did not just Ask. Matter of fact in the story when the neighbor asked he was told to piss off.

How do you reconcile that with your account of this parable?

Maybe because you are not searching for 'knowledge.' You are A/S/K-ing for the Holy Spirit to be in your life.

Quote: First you would have to Seek the person before you could possibly Knock on his door and Ask. How else could you even know that the person exists or where his door is? In other words, it's that favourite little con trick of the neo-fundy: presuppositionalism, making its umpteenth showing in this thread alone.

We ask in prayer

We seek in the bible, Church, and asking questions in places like this

We knock by repeating this process

What's more apparent is that you have a hole in your understanding of reality, and you've taken it upon yourself to fill that hole with God.

Whether or not the hole is God shaped seems to be irrelevent to you, as you seem to have no problem forcing it in, even when it doesn't fit.

Thinking

Indeed, but what motivates one to seek that which has no sign of existing in the first place?

Ask/ (Who or What exactly?)

/Seek/ (Why, and Seek what?)

/Knock (What the fuck are you talking about?)

The whole concept is intellectually bankrupt.

Continue showing, Drich? You'd have to start first.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Ask/Seek/Knock as out lined in luke 11:
If you receive the Holy Spirit/If you receive a measure of God to indewell you. What better proof of God than God Himself?

Drich, I've heard this method before....many times...from relatives

They tell me that it does work.

Problem is ..............................they're.. MORMONS

WHAT UP WITH THAT?????

How are my heretic/cultist (according to my other protestant relatives....when no mormons are around>>hehehehe) tuning in to your lord and savior???

Does jesus have a split personality???

Is jesus working both sides of the street???

ALSO: could you reply to my post #80 in the "How stupid do you have to be thread..".

thanks

.

That's just it, if the did A/S/K and it did not work and they stopped then they did not follow the model of A/S/K as outlined in Luke 11. For the persistant neighbor never stopped asking/Seeking/Knocking.

I 20 years after I first started A/S/K am still A/S/King. I've Got my 'proof' I'm always looking to learn more.

Yes, we know all that. The point you keep missing like a boss is that all this presupposes there is something to ask in the first place. That's not a pathway to truth, nor is it going to convince anyone else who isn't already convinced, thus making it redundant and a huge circle jerk for the faithful to stroke each other's... egos.

Do we need to continue showing how Bart erhman book fails, or are we done?

You were done when you started, asshole. Clearly the book is far beyond your limited mentality.

True, Ehrman was writing for the layman. But he was not writing for flaming shitheads like you.

ROFLOL

Maybe that is why you remained silent while your boy's arguments were being shot down in the first two parts of my 'book review.'

Seriously?

Maybe you want to take a few more minutes and think about who is talking and when.

Jesus is speaking throughout Luke 11. Before Jesus one was born into Favor of God. No one came to the Father.

So.... people couldn't come to believe? They were either born believing in god_A, or god_B, or...., or nothing... is that it?
