Sure does sound better then heaven.
What description of hell have you been feed to believe it's not bad. You say that you would met with interesting people and have literature to enjoy. You need to hear something closer to the truth, one can't read in the dark, one can't speak with others, they'll to busy complaining about their situation they made for themselves. Hell is a place full of hatred, selfishness, contempt for God and others, sadness, and ect. Also breakfast is not served in hell or any other meal, loneliness is a thing each will be able to enjoy in hell.

Okay I was just wondering, first those souls you speak of will have physical bodies, even the lost will be raised from the grave. After their judgment they will be sent to hell, the place of eternal punishment. We are not told where hell will be, we are told it will not be reachable, no one will even be able to see hell, it will be completely isolated by God. Sealed away forever even from God Himself, those in hell will never experience the presents of God again, they will see Him at judgement and see what they forfeited and can only rant and rave about the lost love of God forever. Hope this helps, if not ask more questions, I'll try to answer them.

Yes - you are making a claim - he is asking YOU to support that claim - do you have proof of the existence of Hell in any way?
SInce we accept the bible to be a group of FIctional Stories - please USE things for which YOU can provide real proof.
Example - there is NO proof that the christ ever really lived - there is NOT a single document that we have that can be dated to his supposed time that even mentions his name - none at all. THe New Testament - was not written by anyone during the supposed time of the christ - that can be proven as well. In fact - we do not actually know who wrote most of the bible - the original bibles were UNATTRIBUTED - and those names were added later. (Again - with NO proof of origin or authorship)
I didn't bring this subject up, I only wanted to let 'Lv72 know he had been lied to about what hell entails.
You are the one who believes it's fictional and that in no way of thinking proves it's fictional, so you'll have to live with your faulty reasoning.
I can say the exact same thing about many ancient persons, yet you accept them as historical figures, and why, because someone you admire said they were, even without writings from their supposed time or even an authors name.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

GC What of the parable of the rich man and Lazarus? For arguments sake let's suppose one takes a literal standpoint of the bible, and all these stories are actual historical fact.
The rich man died and was sent to hell, but he was able to see Heavens gates and even spoke to Abraham.
Supposedly a story from the lips of Christ himself blowing holes through the complete separation of heaven and hell.

You really did miss the true meaning of the story didn't you, even though Jesus told us what it meant, you fall right into the real meaning of the story. Parables are not necessarily realistic in nature, they are meant as an aid to teach.

When one seeks to teach you would typically try not to create instances of conflicting stories. Jesus being god in mans form with all the powers of god, like omniscience, fully aware of the instances within his own 'Word' that describe the separation of heaven and hell. Seems a bit contrary, as is a good portion of the biblical texts, is all I'm trying to point out.
Parable or not.

What does it matter to you, you didn't understand what He was teaching. To make His point the parable had to be told as it was, simple really.

Wow. I mean... what does my number of friends have to do with the fact that I think that smiley face, which isn't automatically in your signature- you type it after every post, is representative of your views?
Incidentally, I'm one of the lucky people in the world who can say she has a lot of love in her life.

GC Don't presume to know what I do or do not understand, as an ex christian the story is well known to me and it's meaning is quite clear.
The point I'm trying to make is that this is one of many inconsistencies in the bible. Sure, any person writing a narrative can make a mistake or not think to have the rules of an alternate reality down pat, but we are talking about a supposedly perfect higher being. Sure it's small fries compared to the rest of them but it's a valid point nonetheless.
Adds to skepticism.
