The question that makes fundies hostile

(November 25, 2013 at 4:27 pm)Godlesspanther Wrote: I have noticed that if you ask a fundie whether they would prefer to live in a society in which same-sex marriage is legal or a society that allows slavery -- they get mad. You make up a question that purposely backs a Christian in a corner if it has to be answered by your criteria. That is an unfair circumstance because no one has control over either situation. We live in a world to day that allows both slavery and homosexual marriage, so your question is altogether faulty. Then once some does answer the question to your delight, you move the goal post, not once but twice. You in my opinion are a dishonest person who enjoys to see people in situations that make them uncomfortable. If you do not change you will be the one in a very uncomfortable situation some day. GC
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I would have been more clear to state "The god Christians believe exists is a bigot, and Christians agree with their concept of god, so I stand by the accuracy of my statement. Since I don't, I'm merely trying to understand you, that must be why I'm seeming ignorant. I don't mind that, ignorance is the first step of learning. I'm afraid your clarification does not help. If "the god" Does not exist then whether or not he is a bigot is defined by what Christians believe him to be. You speak of the concept Christians have of God. But is this a simple concept? Do Christians, from nazis to wbc to the amish have the same concept of God? Because if so, He might be a bigot. But if their views are different then they might also be different. Here's one. The actions of God in the OT are genocidal. Is it thus accurate to say that since Christians follow that God that all Christians are genocidal? He is also described as jealous, does that mean ALL Christians are jealous?

I think its nice to know how many psychopaths we have on this site. Or at least confirm our suspicions. And ending with a nice indirect threat there GC. 'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House “Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom "If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. The God described in the bible is also described as loving and merciful. That's mutually exclusive with him being hateful and genocidal. Which contradiction, of course, is one of the Dissonances within Christianity. God might be able to pull off being merciless AND merciful, but people are not so clever. If Christians exhibit the characteristics of God, how can we (I) be bothered merciless and merciful, and all the other contradictory things written about God?
