Where is heaven?

Yahweh's throne is said to rest on the firmament of the world. It's supposed to be right above the clouds. I don't think the bible ever mentions some spiritual place in another dimension, but since we've learned so much and obviously don't see heaven anywhere near the Earth, christians are forced to believe it isn't a physical place.

Well, it used to just be in the sky, but the moment we humans got up there it retracted back to some magic spirit place. I mean, god wouldn't want us to find it or anything, right?
As of right now, heaven nestles snugly in the gaps in our knowledge, where it will reside right up until we know everything concerning universal origins, upon which time it will move to faith, until the last remaining stubborn christians pass away, and it will cease to be entirely.
