Why are other civilizations ignored in the Bible?
RE: Why are other civilizations ignored in the Bible?
Guys... I keep telling you... MAGIC!!
The inside of the boat was much more spacious than the outside appearance would make you think.
The waters around the boat were unusually calm and... viscous, thus countering all the animal movements.
Also, the feeding of animals was constantly supplied from the room of inexhaustible food.
The excrements flowed through a very complex... **AHEM*** magical** AHEM** system which maintained the whole vessel squeaky clean.

Afterwards, all animals kept a healthy dose of fat which enabled them to resume their previous locations on the globe... with ease... And, if fat wasn't enough, then magical fat was introduced.

It takes a hell of a lot of magic to make it look like all these animals just evolved where we see them today, but that's how it was done... It must be.

Dude! Do you understand how satisfying it is to watch their discomfort when you finally ground that admission out of them?

Quit ruining it! Tongue

Oh I think you are dumbing down the magic here:

The hiding of all the evidence that the flood ever happened.
The keeping of all the fresh water species alive in this deluge of salt water.
The hiding of the evidence that all species date back about 6,000 years to a single pair in the genome.
The maintaining of all of the predators once out of ark until such time as the prey animals had replenished their stocks.
and the biggest magic of all:

The existence of Christians who believe this story to be a literal account of what actually happens despite all evidence to the contrary.

Now that is MAGIC!!

Besides, you keep ruining the fun for everyone by answering all the theists with what I'd answer, only you do it much more eloquently!
DAMN YOU! Devil

Why should you have all the fun of ruining other people's satisfaction? Tongue

Glad you enjoyed, TruthBTold, and for Dis' benefit, I'll post my cross-examinations of the other "eye-witnesses":

Here's my post on Mark, quoted here so as to avoid the problems of necro-posting. If you wish to reply to defend your witness, Dis, please do so below and not on the original thread:

Quote:Mark's Gospel: Anonymous Hearsay
The following is an excerpt from the New Oxford Annotated Bible (NRSV 3rd edition), p57 NT.

Quote:Quote:
Although the Gospel is anonymous, an ancient tradition ascribes it to John Mark (mentioned in Acts 12:12 and 15:37), who is supposed to have composed it at Rome as a summary of Peter's preaching (see 1 Pet 5:13).
So the first Gospel, on which Matthew and Luke were based, is an anonymously written account of what is thought to be the story related by Peter of what he saw and heard, at least some of which Peter wasn't a personal eye-witness to but may have heard it from others.

The New Oxford Annotated Bible goes on to say (same page)

Quote:Quote:
In the earliest manuscripts, Mark ends abruptly at 16:8. ...In some later manuscripts, Mark's story was "completed" with resurrection appearances of amalgamated elements from other canonical Gospels, to make it conform to their common pattern

So, we have:
[snip]

A dubious source...
...telling us what he heard Peter tell him (hearsay) ...
...about a story that included parts which Peter wasn't a witness to...
...compiled in an account that was later changed...
...from the original version composed four decades after the alleged events took place.

This is what passes in apologetics for a "reliable eye-witness testimony"

And this is your prime witness. Not a good start for your case.

A boat full of animals that need to move around and have no sense of how their motion would affect the boat around them would capsize pretty quickly without a method of correcting itself. Not to mention all the debris in the torrential rain that'd take a big ass chunk out of the hull.

I'd love to see Noah's stability calculations for that cargo.

Aye... and as long as I sees them, I'll say it like it is: magic!
Whenever the details are sketchy on the holy book, then the only possible logical consistent explanation is "magic".

The application of your methodology is not consistent. You accept a lower standard of evidence for things which support your preconceived beliefs.

If that is how I came to the conclusion that the truth claims of Christianity were true, then your point might have validity.

Since that is not how I arrived at my conclusions, nor have I stated that was how I went about my investigative research, your argument is a strawman.
