Wait a minute. Since I haven't bought any girl scout cookies this year, does that put me on the same side as the anti-choice people?

As CapnAwesome said, how is it magically different from those who pulled their children out of Boyscouts because of their anti-gay policies? Abortion by choice is bad for society, there are plenty of demonstrable negative effects regardless of the moral argument so when you claim that people shouldn't let politics interfere with the organizations they choose to support I can't make sense of your argument; you're simply judging people with a political view that is different to your own. Oh and FYI it's illegal in Australia for any company (/organization) to organize/arrange for a boycott of a product - don't you have these laws in the USA? The purpose of the law is, for instance that a competitor - or entity with a competing interest - is not allowed to drive business away from a target company. Thus we typically see petitions and not illegal boycotts...

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK "That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke RE: Anti-Choice groups are targeting The Girl Scouts

Those countries with really low numbers of contraception also go by another name, we call them third world countries.
I actually agree with the captain. While I think the reasons for boycotting are ludicrous, it's well within their right to simply not buy cookies. I'm sure if the funds from those cookies were going to "pro-life" causes people would strangely have a different opinion simply because it coincides with their own views.

Good points, but you haven't invalidated point 1, which is the most important link. Point 2 cam be considered invalid. Girl Scouts are not related to Planned Parenthood at an organizational level (point 1), which keeps this boycott inconsistent and on unsound ground. Slave to the Patriarchy no more

So you're fine with people using lies to encourage boycotts? As that is my issue with it. Lies are not harmless. If you disagree, explain the anti-vaccination cause and the resurgence of measles. This ain't about buying cookies. It's about using deceit. The link between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood has no evidence. If one is so concerned about a local troop sending money to some cause, ask them. But you're just helping BS along. What's the harm my ass. Slave to the Patriarchy no more
