Is age merely a number?
|
I'm not sure what the question is then, or why we have to label people certain things because they're a certain age.
You're asking her what she will be if she's not one or the other and I say she's going to be herself. She's a little over a year younger than me. I am myself. We don't need a label to describe our sexual exploits in an "in between" phase. In fact, I'd appreciate it if no one ever called me a cougar when I get older if I don't stay with my boyfriend.
Who are we talking about?

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You can put whatever attitude you want to assume behind it, instead of just answering why it had to be there in the first place. I thought a "cougar" was an older woman and a "cub" was her younger lover. Like there are "bears" and "bear cubs" in the gay community.

There's a certain amount of malicious sneering about it - it usually (as far as I've heard it) implies a rich older woman who keeps a young pretty boy-toy around for fucks. I was just wondering why there had to be the label. You don't automatically become a cougar after some arbitrary age, and being in that 25-40 area as we are doesn't require a label where some dude can say "awwww yisssss, gonna pick me up some [insert label here] 2nite!" Though, to tell you the truth, I wasn't half so irritated at the label questions as the "ur". |
