The Taboo of Number Two
Here's something I always wonder about...

Why is it taboo to say you have to poop? Seriously. Pooping is something that every human being does, every day. And if you're my husband, you do it 4 or 5 times a day. It's a part of daily life that all of us humans have in common. And yet... no one ever talks about it. No one ever openly says "hey, I gotta go take a dump." Most people have no problem saying they have to pee, but for some reason there is some sort of prejudice against poop.

When I do tell people that I have to go poop, they usually look at me weird or giggle uncomfortably. I just wanna say, "what, you trying to tell me you haven't taken a dump in the past 24 hours? Why is it "weird" that I am saying I have to go do it?"

Personally, I think this anti poop taboo makes 0 sense and needs to be irradiated. 

What do yall think?

A. It should stay taboo. People should not openly talk about having to poop, or openly acknowledge pooping. Talk of poop or pooping should be avoided unless really necessary.

B. It should not be taboo. Pooping is a natural human thing that we all do. There should be 0 problem with telling people you have to go take a dump, or casually bringing up the issue when appropriate to the conversation.

If you answer A, you are not cool and you are part of the problem. Please explain your reasoning, as I would love to see any form of justification for such nonsense.

I always - always - make a show of standing up suddenly with much flourishing, and announcing in my most stentorian voice that I'm Going For A Shit. Doesn't matter if I'm at home, round a mate's, at my nan's or at work.

I do it partially as a shock tactic, and partly to remind people not to get all tied up about natural bodily processes. But it's mostly the seeing the look on their faces bit. Because pooping is funny. Hee-hee.

Uhm... What now? Either your husband is seriously ill, or 3-4 times a day when he says he's going to "poop" - he's doing something else...

I usually just say I have to use the toilet. Effective enough

No, that's just his normal. His dad's the same way. We do suspect they might have a mild form of IBS, but it has not been diagnosed.
