No, but your acceptance of what we learn through the application of the scientific method is dependent on whether or not it conflicts with what we thought we knew through the application of the "god told the high priest in a dream" method. You accept science because you rely on it every day in ways that are tangible, and you reject it wherever it conflicts with your interpretation of an ancient book written at a time when "technology" meant rubbing camel shit on a wound to "treat" it.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

the scientific method has it's limitations. for instance, nothing can be found out about eschatology which is future oriented: death, afterlife, how the universe ends, the eternal state. and how does one determine that it's true? by hearing or reading it.
Atheist Credo: A universe by chance that also just happened to admit the observer by chance.

Nothing can be found about these things through other methods, either. They are questions we can't answer. The scientific method doesn't permit just making up whatever bullshit answers you want, which is a limitation only against bullshit.

Exactly. Christianity makes many claims. Some of its adherents are able to understand these in an appropriately poetic way while the dimmer xtians declare them to inerrant and literal.

"Science has limits, so therefore I'm justified in discarding it whenever it conflicts with a book I like that also has limitations." Really?

The bible doesn't have anything in it about laptops or mayonnaise, so I guess we'd better reject that in favor of.... some perfect, encapsulated account of everything in the universe, that doesn't exist? Thinking
