Not for kids though. Its a gesture directed specifically towards gays.
And everyone watching this movie is going to know this. Its the very definition of propaganda.

What is pathetic is that all this kerfuffle over 'gay propaganda' is just going to increase viewings just to see what all the fuss is about.

Well I'm sure that the viewings will rather decrease, with parents not choosing to take their children to a movie that has admitted to it.
Frozen, which was mentioned before, had no official agenda regarding the issue.

It would have been better if the character was to be revealed as having AIDS at the end of the movie. That'd hint at the real life issues of the community, yes?
That on the other hand would have been a positive message to kids
