And so what? Occupation =/= Profession. Profession is not greater than occupation.

That point has been made and the OP doesn't care; too busy on some Quixotic anti-porn crusade. I damn sure don't make that ridiculous distinction.

Only just checked back into this thread.

Not gonna lie Zidneya, I read your first few responses to my earlier post and after that I didn't read anymore. You are on a lower intellectual level than me (and pretty much every other poster on this website), that much is obvious. I hope nobody holds it against me if I decline to respond to that page of drivel you wrote.

Oh, and please don't link to porn again. We can talk about it, but there's no need to link to actual porn sites.

Hold on a sex...I mean sec. It's tough being a male performer though. It's harder than being a female performer. I'll give you the reasons I've noted from my extensive porn behind the scenes/documentary fascination. Many times the scene can't get going because the guy can't get wood. The guy can't fake a hard on. In some cases the guy has to fuck a chick he's not attracted to. This happens with the girls too but they can fake it. They can fake orgasms too. The guy can't. Finding a guy with the appropriate credential(s) is tough (He didn't get the job because he's got a great personality). Not only do you have to find THAT guy, but he's got to be able to have sex in a room filled with strangers.

Lighting is an issue because the directors need it to portray the scene intended. So if the guy can't keep a hard cock, it becomes a race against time. This can screw up a whole day's shoot. It can also drive up overheads because you may have only paid 1 days rent for the house you're fucking in. It just became 2!

I'm sure being a male porn star could be a difficult job but it's not really got any rock solid skill requirements.

For example a guy might love having sex in public in front of people on camera and so he signs up to be a porn star and he just does it, no tests no examinations of skill level or competence, no education for years in the theory of porn.

Some porn actors might have solid bodies at the absolute height of fitness, be able to get an erection in front of their own family members, have sex with such stamina they can last for 12 hours and be able to do it while juggling dildos. But this isn't a rock solid requirement of porn, guys can get into the business and make videos without any of these skill levels.

You can get a porn actor who's job it is to be a cuckold, all he has to do is stand there with a flaccid penis, pretend to be a white woman's husband while she gets penetrated by a black man in front of him.

You get gonzo porn where all the actress has to do is pretend to be an amateur girl with no experience, or maybe she is and all she has to do is be herself.

Porn is a broad spectrum with many unskilled jobs available within it.

On the other hand you won't see a qualified doctor who's just done it because he's naturally pretty good at biology and remembering body parts but didn't get fully educated in the topic. Or a doctor who's just there to stand around and look good and so on.

Oh but I do take back what I said about porn being the simplest of activities, I meant it can be very simple. Admittedly usually it isn't.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

RE: Being a porn actor is considered a profession?
I got to page five and couldn't be arsed to read the rest. I'll step in on account of being an amateur photographer, though, since that was mentioned.

As I understand it, most amateur photographers call themselves such because they either don't get paid for their photography, or it isn't their main line of income. There's an argument about "when" you get to call yourself that, but consensus seemed to be that if you were doing photography for part time or full-time gigs, you are a professional photographer. EDIT: artists fall into 'professional' too, although I've never seen one called 'professional' who wasn't featured in a museum, did actual viewings of their work, or was published, or some shit, all of which also imply income).

If you think skill is needed for this, you're wrong.

Please see http://youarenotaphotographer.com/

Whenever I feel bad about "mah skillz" my boyfriend (who was up until recently a professional photographer who managed a studio all legit-like) would point me to that place.

Anyway. Where do you get the idea that a profession has to be one where you learn special skills to do it? Pretty sure garbagemen don't necessarily learn things - they just follow rules. Same with janitors. What if I got paid to rake leaves? I didn't have to learn anything there - I'm just raking, bagging, and hauling. I could be a professional leaf raker. So what?

I'm pretty sure people have already listed it, but porn, like photography, is a sliding scale of skills and types. What I like might not be the sort of porn you like. I happen to think that porn with better acting and more discernible plot is more attractive, but that's because I prefer to read my erotica than watch it. Some people might be just fine with 'amateur' porn because it's more 'real'. If you think the amateur stuff looks worse, well, just go back to that "you are not a photographer" website - people are still paying for it. It's like people paying for Budweiser instead of craft beer - some people just don't give a shit how they consume their vice, they just want to consume it. That doesn't make photography any less professional, or the beer any less alcoholic, or the porn any less...porny.

A lawyer on the other hand...

I'm still not seeing the distinction between a porn star and a lawyer.

Is Dana De Armond a lawyer?

Holy shit, dude. As the daughter of a former Ranger who was JAG (he's now a gov't lawyer), I just fucking laughed until I had an asthmatic coughing fit.

Nope, my written Spanish cannot compete to that and now I'm so embarrassed I don't want to respond at all, but I will. If you want my apology in Spanish you'll have to PM me for it.

I feel like a complete asshole, and I am sorry. When I realized that English wasn't your first language I should have either apologized or just left it at that, but I decided to put my foot in my mouth because I was annoyed. It was immature and childish and I apologize for that.

Rangers will lead you into something, but I don't know if it's the right way.

Or so I learned from the man who got bored and started driving his tank after a road runner. Or made alligator noises at the alligators in the swamps just to scare the shit out of the people with him.
