If you didn't remind yourself so often, would you run the risk of forgetting? I often see stuff like this and wonder how much of it is a self reinforcing performance act. Church every set day, bible study before breakfast, constant call and response affirmations. Meh. Military indoctrination works the same way. That's how you get from shooting people and destroying homes to engaging targets and assaulting objectives. Intentionally manufactured dissonance.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Much like participating in an atheist forum.... reinforcing the stereotype
Let's see. Hmmm .. to believe or not to believe. That's the question, Today I'm going to go with
Nope. My opinion. There it is.
Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.
ding dong the witch is dead.....
And which witch might that be?
No.
And better for it.
"Just call me Bruce Wayne. I'd rather be Batman."
I love the conception and portrayals of gods, and by gods I mean the pagan polytheistic gods. Not the immature Abrahamic ones. I love the myth and ritualism of Arabian cults but by no means do I find them real just as a person participating in Christmas finds Santa Claus real. Gods make for great and meaningful symbols and ritual but when taken as an ontological perspective and creating a metaphysical system out of them it is just going to far.
I pray to gods, worship them and partake in religious events but by no means does it make those gods as real as a child thinking the tooth fairy gave him money.
Yeah...
