Ferguson: too much or not enough?
RE: Ferguson: too much or not enough?
Because rounds are cheap and lives are irreplaceable.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Tampering with the cameras should be a felony.

Time to get control back from the government overlords.

Already happened in some areas, altercations and officer-involved violence incidents are down ~80? 90? %.

Another item I'd like to see is a federal law barring any state laws banning the videorecording of officers on duty. The idea that public servants should not have their every public action scrutinized by the public is obnoxious to democracy.

In this story, the cop shut off the camera before shooting someone. Now, why would she do that?

Here's her excuse:

Quote:The officer's attorney countered that Lewis had turned her body camera off because her shift was about to end and she was on her way back to the Fourth District station when she initiated the traffic stop that led to the shooting.

What a crock.

It should be crime to turn off a cop camera while on the job.

Quote: Do you really think it would have been a good idea to fire a single shot at someone coming at you with a knife? Shoot once, stop to access the situation, get a butcher knife and throat and die. That doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

It's called a "warning shot." If these cops are such fucking pussies they should quit and find safer jobs. There were at least 400 police executions in the US last year. That's ten times more than the number of court ordered executions.

Oh, please. Turning the camera off early would have saved her one-and-a-half seconds on her shift, and that saves public money that could be used for other things ... like settling lawsuits.

Oh, wait.

I don't know if you ever listen to country western music? (It's really not all completely terrible)
The phrase "we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way" popped into my head when reading your post. Facepalm

The answer to your question is yes. Yes, Americans (sadly especially the police it seems) are inclined to go straight for shoot to kill. Babies during drug raids, little old ladies during no knock warrants on the wrong address, dogs during routine traffic stops, injured or mentally handicapped people who are seeking help, and black people. The safest thing you can do in the US is become a white woman. Michael Jackson had it right all along.

Lol I have a few songs that I like (not the one I quoted btw), but it's probably more nostalgia than actually liking the song.

I don't think this is true. I think most Americans aren't inclined to kill at all.

Having said that, and having handled firearms since age nine, I'll tell you this: I was taught to never point a gun at a man unless I intended to shoot him, and never pull the trigger unless I intended to kill him, and that makes a lot of sense to me.

However, most LEOs I know do not go immediately for their gun when confronted with a crisis, especially now that non-lethal options are more prevalent than, say, 20 years ago. But training doctrine for most police academies advises what I was taught as a boy: try to avoid shooting, but if you must, shoot to kill.

It's a bit of a distinction.

SCOtUS has already ruled on this. It's totally legal, regardless of any state laws.
