Meh, just a taste issue on your part. I mainly post that because it breaks the stereotype of that band that they are monochromatic. I love that song. It could be a cover for an atheist thrash band talking about how God stalks you.

I can only assume that you got laid to ABBA music at a critical point in your development.

My tastes in furniture, clothing, and music froze in the late 70s. Bell bottom pants, disco music, and black leather chairs and chrome and glass end tables will always be my reference standard.
Despite my enthusiasm for disco, sadly, Abba really isn't a 'Top 10' contender for me. They are good, don't get me wrong, but there is a massive amount of disco music I like. Salsoul Orchestra, Bee Gees, Vicki Sue Robinson, Peter Brown, Margie Alexander, The Emotions, damn, it would be difficult to rank them and be fair about it. Might have to go listen to Cheryl Lynn belt out Star Love . . . No, actually I was a pimple faced dork and extremely insecure growing up. I abandon ABBA because of the "Disco revolt". It wasn't but a year and a half ago I got back into them realized how stupid I was to give a fuck what others thought of them.
Steve Dahl prett much started the disco revolt with his (destructing) disco demolition stunt.
He had fans bring disco records to a stadium, and then they were dynamited (how do you get a permit to do that?). Anyhow, the explosion and the vinyl record fragments were a HUGE mess and Dahl was chastised. (His band, Teenage Radiation, actually did pretty good, in the Weird Al genre)
I don't really know what to say. Apparently, a lot of people like ABBA, but they just don't speak to me. As far as I can see, they are a no-too-bad disco-era band, but I wouldn't say they should be immortalized as music gods or anything. I don't see depth in the construction of the songs, or especially deep meaning in the lyrics, or instrumental genius. I just don't "get it."
But that's the beauty of art, I guess-- all our lives can benefit by finding those sounds that get our own neurons tingling, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. RE: My favorite band of all time.
