I don't like that term...
There's also the meatball. British dish (Welsh?) made of pork. I still haven't tried them.
"Yes, I am a Free Lover. I have an inalienable, constitutional and natural right to love whom I may, to love as long or as short a period as I can; to change that love every day if I please, and with that right neither you nor any law you can frame have any right to interfere. And I have the further right to demand a free and unrestricted exercise of that right, and it is your duty not only to accord it, but as a community, to see I am protected in it. I trust that I am fully understood, for I mean just that, and nothing else."

Not a joke. A bundle of sticks is called a faggot in reference to burning at the stake but I think that it's based on an urban legend.

My wife wrote one YAOI (male/male romance) original fiction that paired up an American and British character. In the afterglow of some hot gay sex, she described this dialog.
"I'm gagging for a fag."
"You just had one."
"Crude bugger, I meant a cigarette."
"I know what you meant. I couldn't resist."

Hmm, that's not good writing. It should read "I'm gagging on a fag."

Unfortunately, his high school yearbook read "Most likely to be a butthead" and his high school quote was replaced by a mean kid with "TOOOOOOT." No wonder he attacked Luke.
Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

In relation to burning at the stake, that part might be urban legend, but the usage of the term to describe a bundle of sticks (or a bundle generically) dates from 13th century English (faggot) and French (fagot).
