Being crippled or disabled is one of my greatest fears too. Scares me much more than death.

Afraid of death? No. Reluctant about going any time soon? Yep.

But I am resigned to it and at peace with. All and all, a very good deal this getting to be alive and sentient.

Yes and no. The inconceivability of nothingness that will inevitably eclipse my existence and render the inner worth of all personal experiences for naught, forever and without relent, is both unnerving and depressing. I enjoy being, life, and once it's over, it's really finished. On the other hand, every moment is a death of sorts, and though memories sometimes fill me with a sense of loss, I don't lose a whole lot of sleep over the past--so why do so over the future?

I think death is a bit of a disability, not as much now I guess as it was in the old days when being dead really had some big disadvantages.

This for me too, even down to trying to kill myself three times.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
