I'd like to see them impeach Obama. Last time a highly partisan congress impeached a sitting president over trumped up charges, they're the ones who paid in the elections. The democrats gained seats in the 1998 midterms. I can't help but think the same would happen this time, in the 2016 presidential election. More congressional seats and another democrat president would be pretty good, doncha think? It could easily happen, too, as long as the democrats have enough sense to nominate someone who actually has charisma; Al Gore might have some good ideas, but he has all the personality of a wooden plank.

Clinton was impeached for obstruction of justice and perjury. Now the left likes to spin it as if Clinton was impeached for getting a blow job. That is not true. Clinton was investigated for getting a blow job. The reason he was investigated for getting a blow job is because a request was made to depose Monica Lewinsky in the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit. He was impeached when it was determined he lied under oath during that investigation.

Not all articles of impeachment passed the House....only 2 did. The reason 2 stood and the others were dismissed was because the 2 charges had legitimacy.

Clinton was impeached for obstruction and perjury *ABOUT* his blow job. The GOP was completely out of control for impeaching him and clearly doing so for political motives. The case could have been settled with a plea bargain where Clinton accepted a $500 fine and Congressional censure.

The next administration featured a president who lied us into a war of aggression. Any talk of impeachment was pooh-poohed as "shrill". The standards flipped as soon as the GOP was in power.

So far, they don't have their fig leaf to mask their politically motivated impeachment. Stay tuned.

But what really disgusts me is not that fucktards like yourself are infinitely programmable to the point where you can flip back and forth depending on the needs of the party at the time, with no memory that your standards were completely different several years ago. What is so disgusting about our political discourse is there is no media that will call you out on it. The right-wing enabling media will happily flip back and forth as needed.

Hey Dummy,

The claim I was responding too was the claim that Clinton was impeached on trumped up charges. Why would the President of the United States cop a plea, pay a fine, and accept Congressional Censure on trumped up charges? I never said there wasn't a political motivation behind the impeachment.....there was.....but the charges were not trumped up.

Also the investigations against Clinton were not frivolous as evidenced by Clinton's disbarment.

Clinton is a lying, womanizing, scumbag.....it's no surprised he was investigated numerous times and eventually disbarred.

Republicans wasted tons of government time and treasure just to attempt to take down a president by whatever means necessary. They spend tons more of it now trying to do the same thing. And yet, we're supposed to believe that the fiscal future of the nation rests on depriving the underprivileged of any basic necessity their slave wages can't pay for.

And, it's the fault of Democrats for not doing unto Republicans what Republicans do unto them. They allow themselves to be punished for failing to compromise with the uncompromising. They let the Republican slander machine turn 'liberal' and 'progressive' into slurs.

I think it should be a priority of the party, and of progressives in general, to go on the offensive, everywhere, against conservatism. Make it a word too toxic for any politician to use. Progressives have won spectacular victories against the regressives in the social war by making homophobia and racism actually look as bad as they are. If they would only do the same on economics. How many times did you see a Democrat in this midterm election inform the voting public that trickle-down economics have a 30-year track record of making the rich richer and the poor poorer? How many of them ever asked a voter "does the CEO of the company you work for work ten thousand times as hard as you do?" or "do hedge fund brokers contribute hundreds of times more to society than teachers or doctors?" Did you ever see anyone ask if they would support a political party who strongly believes in the idea that you deserve to have to work far harder, longer and more dangerously than other people just to have the same basic level of existence? Did any of them ask "Should a company who makes billions in profits be allowed to pay people so little that they rely on government assistance to survive?"

No, you didn't hear any of these things. All you heard was a bunch of neofascists blaming Obama for problems that are almost entirely the fault of Republicans and then all of the racist idiots got all scurred and voted.

Republicans survive only because they play the game better. It's time we stopped letting civility get in the way of progress. Conservatives are poison and it's time Democratic politicians started making sure everybody knows it. We can't get better if we insist on letting the cancer stick around.

Yep. That's what the GOP was able to get to stick after six years of near constant investigations. They ask him about his personal sex life and he lied and that's what they got him for. I don't know about you, but I'm not crazy about talking about the details of who I'm boinking and if I'm having an affair, I REALLY don't want to talk about that when I know its details are going to be on the front page of every newspaper.

If that's the best they could dig up on Clinton after all that time, money and effort trying to dig something up, I think he was probably more honest than most politicians. Hell, put Dubya under oath and ask him about pre-war Iraq intelligence, pre-9/11 intelligence reports or pre-Katrina weather reports and you'll be able to find a dozen things that we could have impeached him over and his lies resulted ni people getting killed.
