So congratulations.
I would hope Democratic leaders will learn from their mistakes but I'm realistic. I actually expect them to run further to the right and pack their patented GOP-lite strategy with all kinds of spine-free milquetoasty goodness that they're so rightly infamous for.
Quote:Jobs and the economy were still number one in the polls as a concern with voters.I only hope the Republicans don't shut down the government again. The last one cost our economy some $24 billion and nearly destroyed America. Luckily, the relatively sane faction "blinked" at the last minute and America was saved.
I'm honestly worried because they're already talking about another shut down. How many Tea Baggers are in their ranks this time (I haven't checked if it's gone up or not)? Will they actually vote to destroy America this time or will they just limit it to another costly shut down?

Quote:This was after Obama's boast that, "Bin Laden is dead and Al Qeada is on the run".Yeah, because everyone knows that means "we're totally safe now and we'll never, ever be attacked again by this group of fanatics willing to die just to kill others who can blend in and strike anywhere."
Quote:his lack of will to confront Putin's military encroachment into the UkraineWhat? What else do you want? Do you want us to send troops to the Ukraine? Fight Russian troops directly? You do realize that nuclear war would be bad, right?
Quote:and elsewhere, his lack of will to confront Iran and Syria,Iran and Syria? What do you want? Do you want us to back the ISIS and Al Qaida rebels against Syria? Do you want us to be more adversarial with Iran when their Shiite friends in Iraq are embattled with ISIS?
Frankly, I think we need to rethink our relations with both, since they're enemies of ISIS. Sure, our enemy's enemies aren't our friends here but we were willing to be friend's with Stalin in order to stop Hitler. Sometimes world politics is a matter of making choices and setting priorities. I'm hoping we have some discrete negotiations going on here to coordinate against our mutual enemies.
Frankly, I would have hoped conservatives would have learned some hard lessons from toppling Saddam Hussein and unleashing the whirlwind that we're now reaping. Secular dictators may be brutal but they're far preferable to the religious fanatics that they oppose.
