I think you're being dishonest here. If my dog has cancer and I let him die a natural death, I'm going to be charged with animal abuse? If so, the law is messed up. Anyway, is seems you didn't get the point of my comments. With our pets people often forgo medical treatment, even though it could save the pet's life. It may be too painful for the pet or just too expensive. Often, they just let the pet live out its natural life. If you agree that this is okay, then why is it not okay to stop excruciating chemo at your daughter's request and pursue alternative treatment? You will allow your dog to die in peace, but not your daughter. In your estimation, why is there a moral imperative to continue painful treatment against her will any more than to provide the same to your pet?

First of all, I don't believe we should treat dogs the same as people. We are a special creation with a soul, different than any other animal on the earth. We not just a more highly evolved animal who runs things because we are more intelligent. We have different different standards of treatment than dogs. I think a true christian might die in agony, but never in despair. We are to live our lives for God and not end life when we are still meant to live. I don't know how long we should struggle against a life threatening, natural disease, though. There comes a time when one needs to make a decision to continue to pursue treatment or allow nature to run its course.

Then Lek how is not MURDER for a parents to let their child die when the fact is that 75% chance for life there and yet they didn't want to get said medical treatment.

They didn't just let her die. They saw the suffering she was going through with the chemo and the fact that she suffered a stroke. The doctors don't believe that the stroke was caused by the chemo, but how many 11-year olds have strokes? Based on the whole situation they decided to pursue alternative treatment. My brother-in-law's friend had bone cancer and was informed that there was nothing more the doctors could do and that he would eventually die of the cancer. He started searching around and began Chinese herbal therapy. The cancer went into remission and, the last I heard, which was years later, he was doing fine. You can finds all kinds of instances where people were cured by alternative medicine. You guys are really quick to rush to judgement and condemn the parents when you have no idea what they went through and what their considerations were, as well as what the girl went through.

Right, so someone you don't know got a terminal diagnosis from a qualified doctor and then they went and got some magic chinese herbs and it cured them? There is so much wrong with you presenting this as any kind of evidence or arguement. If these 'alternative' medicines are so effective, why are they not documented? Why are they not in any medical books or articles? For some reason, some cancers go into remmision on their own, we don't know why, you would have to actually demonstrate that these chinese herbs kill cancer for any reasonable person to believe it. Evidently you do believe it, guess what that makes you.

Oh and FYI, strokes can be caused by a wide variety of diseases and illnesses, demonstrate that it was the chemotherapy that caused it.

I've shared a video by The Amazing Atheist onto my facebook and said something pretty powerful:

"Faith Healing is a detriment to society. Yes, I'm being disrespectful of the beliefs of some people by saying this, but as a HUMANIST, when a persons life is placed on the line, to hell with their feelings. I don't care if I make those who practice faith healing cry like babies. They deserve it because they're using something that has never been proven to work. Faith healing is evil! Faith healing IS cancer!"

That's what I wrote, and on the video, I said the cancer didn't kill the girl, her faith did.

But that's just how I think. I guess you can say I really hate religion. Faith is a cancer on society and needs to disappear.
