RE: Deism: I don't get it
I wish to attack Deism. I just don't wish to create martyrs.

God sucks at keeping a terrarium.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Too bad. Nature's God was going to give me three bisexual wives and one bisexual husband in paradise for being martyred. The package deal comes with a house that has adjoining his-and-her master bedrooms, although who will end up sleeping in which room on a given night is anyone's guess.

Much better than the 72 perpetual virgins offered by that Allah character.

I'll take two women that will teach me everything there is to know about sex over 72 virgins. I'm not sure what the point of virginity would be in heaven. Surely there are no STDs, and the women won't have children. Or will they?

I think you just converted me. Smile

Yeah 72 virgins sound great until you meet your first virgin.

...and did I mention "perpetual"? As in, she regenerates and reseals? So every time is like the first time?

My idea of Hell. I'm sure her's as well. They can have it.

Meanwhile, my three bisexual wives will all be Catholics (or better yet, ex-Catholics, not that it makes much difference). Mmmmmmmmmm.

I have no idea what Billy Joel was singing about.

Should I listen to you and your god or should I listen to the other 200+ million christians that disagree with you. Thinking hmmmmm

I have no idea what god should be. The difference between you and I is that I don't go around claiming to know what he is.

Quote:It's like "If he lets us suffer, then he doesn't care or he doesn't exist."

Nope, never said that. Don't get me wrong it's true I've said he doesn't exist, but it has nothing to do with whether or not he allows people to suffer. People suffer. Its just life.

The Bible is a work of fiction with the occasional historical place or location thrown in to lend some sort of credence to it. It's painfully obvious that Yahweh is a creation of men. The reason I don't tell anyone about the characteristics of the creator being is simply because that is unknowable ...... and I don't want to look like a big raging douchebag who knows the personality traits of an all-powerful being that no one has ever seen.

Nevermind. I digress. You're never going to see the irony anyway. [Image: Cherna-facepalm.gif]

I know why men like virgins so much.

It's because they have no experience with which to compare, so they won't know that the bloke is crap at sex.

It doesn't make much sense that a great God would create a universe and then just let it go on it's own, not caring. I would think that it would be the other way around and that he would be involved in it's affairs.

The beekeeper doesn't keep tabs on every bee, nor does the farmer concern himself with each and every seed he sows.

It doesn't make any sense at all that the Universe itself (which is the Deity, according to deism) should care one iota about humans. Well over 99.9% of all species which have ever lived have gone extinct. You cannot understand this point of deism because your mind has been programmed to think of humans as a special creation, and you are unable to venture outside your own views.
