Well good, Jesus! I just meant passed on from the forum world. Why doesn't he drop in to say hello or something?

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

Hello! It's nice to see that I'm being remembered. I miss you guys! And no...ain't dead!

If they join and try to make a joke that doesn't go over, or if they don't realize that they should really make an intro post and start chiming in and get a cold response, or if they think they have a novel idea and will go toss it to the atheist horde only to find out we've heard it a thousand times.

I feel like you really just need a strong personality to survive the initial onslaught.

I don't know how true it is, but I remember reading that well over 90% of a forum's members never post once. I think a lot of people are a little gunshy because of the rough-and-tumble forum posting can be.

Also, my first post: http://atheistforums.org/thread-9074-pos...#pid202784

First kudos were from Stimbo and SummerQueen: http://atheistforums.org/thread-9242-pos...#pid202788

R.I.P.
My first post led whateverist and bennyboy to suspect I was an "undercover apologist."

Lulz.

Wow, never realised anybody from this board had passed on. I remember somebody from .com was fighting cancer (Buckster?), but he also was banned shortly after that started.

Yeah It was buck. He was fighting cancer but banned for reasons that were...complicated.

I enjoyed his posts, hope he's still alive and kicking.

...I forgot to respond to the OP! Sorry, it's been a while. I don't know how many of you remember the bible-banging Christian extremist that went by the name of "jstrodel" but, he was actually the first one to rep me for "elevating the level of debate". I can't seem to find the thread but I remember pointing out a flaw in an argument made against Strodel, perhaps he noticed that I was new and was attempting to gain an ally by giving me a compliment. While I was flattered, no such thing was accomplished by Mr. Strodel. Come to think of it, I don't recall him ever thanking me for anything I said in an argument thereafter.

First post with kudos: http://atheistforums.org/post-414832.html#pid414832

Four kudos, because I'm a goddamned superstar. First one was from iameatingjam, who hasn't been around in more than a year. Totally not my fault. I think.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

...I did it again. Just realized that the thread was about kudos and not ratings. I'm really out of practice here. I just looked back and was tickled to see that Catfish was my very first kudos! Lol, I was both Repped and Kudosed for the first time by two separate theists. Lovely. My Kudos was earned by explaining the fallacy of composition. Funny.

I don't know how true it is in general - but food for thought: Our member list is by default sorted in reverse order of number of posts, and contains 355 pages. The first member with zero posts appears on page 219. So, here at least, two thirds of all members have posted at least once.
