Christians, Prove Your God Is Good

Doesn't happen so much these days, does it? His appearances seem to have waned since we have better recording equipment.

Except I'm God, like I said. You can't prove im not. And I didn't do any of that stuff in that book.

God's wrath is everywhere. What do you think causes fatal diseases, accidents, or natural disasters? God is sovereign, and sovereign means sovereign.

Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31"So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

No man, I'm God! Stop reading that stuff, it's wrong.

Are you argueing with God? Or do you have evidence I'm not?

Then, someone comes along and shoots the priest, the priest's children, and the neighbor who gave up the child to be burned alive. Would you say justice was done?

I certainly would. In fact, I'd say the priest's children were lucky to receive bullets instead of being burned alive themselves.

The point of the Bible illustrating all of this is to demonstrate the severity of God's wrath. It's no joke, and woe to those who think it is.
The irony here is that Abraham's proof of faith was his willingness to sacrifice his son to God.

What did these children do to deserve getting shot as well?

Yeah, that sounds like biblical justice to me. Everyone is evil.

Why no chainsaws in the bible?

Chainsaws are cool.

Abraham believed that God would provide another sacrifice, which He did. Moreover, that instance happened to foreshadow the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

It wasn't what the children did - it was the sins of the father, as I previously mentioned.

You might say that that isn't justice. Well, who are you to say it isn't? How do you know what awaits the child in the next life? Perhaps God will make them forget the agony of death, as our early memories are so often forgotten. Perhaps they will be rewarded to counter-balance their suffering. Who knows? Only God.

And how about the end result? If we are all to inherit eternal life, then any suffering we endure in these lives is less than temporary. As terrible as the suffering of children may be, it is not in vain; people will know by these things the wrath of God, and understand how little tolerance He has for evil. It is a lesson everyone must learn.

God never said it would be easy.

If you are going somewhere with this, please get to the point.

Welcome brother Miles. I'm sorry that you have suffered such severe indoctrination that you think these sentences above have any real meaning.

I have never read words of such utter bollocks as this. Is it in the bible? My fuck, I'm glad I don't have to try and understand that shit, let alone apologise for it.

You should join a circus. With all this bending and shaping to make horrible ends meet, you really have some acrobatic talent.

I'm especially impressed by the how little tolerance for evil thingy. He's that intolerant of evil that he commits the vilest act imaginable: Slaughtering innocents because of what their parents did. That's how Don Corleone handles matters. If you betray the godfather he will make you suffer by killing your loved ones.

Really an adorable god.

Btw, where does it say that Abraham expected to find another sacrifice. No, no. He comes over as a deranged goat fucker listening to the voices in his head.

It's not the easiest thing in the world to accept, neither can you but by the grace of God.

Your problem, however, is that you make assumptions about God and His character. He is not trying to be "adorable." He is not trying to win a popularity contest. He is teaching us the difference between good and evil, so that we will be made in His image; that is, righteous, independently sentient beings.

Crime brings punishment, sin brings death. That is the way of God. If we do no evil, then no one gets punished, and that is the bottom line.

You are wrong to relate it to Mafia tactics; what crime has God ever committed? On the contrary, He came to us in the flesh as Jesus Christ, lived a sinless life, and we murdered Him in perhaps the most ruthless possible way for it.

You can't say He hasn't suffered along with everyone else, that is, if we are continuing in the vein of Christianity in this discussion.

And yes...in the case of God and His motives, the ends DO justify the means.

The truth is not palatable, but it IS the truth.

Genesis 22:6
... "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

Abraham answered, "God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."

Not that Abraham wasn't prepared to obey if it came to that, but He had faith in the goodness of God. He found that faith to not be misplaced.
