Indiana's Govenor Signs 'Religious Freedom' Bill

RE: Indiana's Govenor Signs 'Religious Freedom' Bill
I'm actually pretty liberal when it comes to freedom of objection as long as there's someone willing to do the job. Don't want to marry two gays? Fine - Is there someone else who can do it? Ok, then don't marry them (why would gays want to marry under a Christian who hates them anyway?). I only stop when there's no one else to perform the job. A better question as I have asked is how do people know who breaks their religious beliefs and what breaks it. If my religion tells me to hate Jews can I deny the Holocaust in France?
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

Part of what brought on the lawsuits is the last minute nature of the cancellations. The baker at the 11th hour decided "I'm not baking a cake for a gay wedding". By then, it was too late to take their business to their competition. The baker didn't just discriminate. He backed out on a contract at the last minute.

Yeah...this is what you get when you let xtians act on their alleged consciences.

Way too many assholes in Texas.

And now we have the GOP candidates clamoring to defend bigotry as good, conservative values...

Quote:Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: “The right thing”

"I think Gov. Pence has done the right thing," Bush said of the Indiana's Religious Freedom Act in a radio interview Monday night with conservative host Hugh Hewitt. “This is simply allowing people of faith space to be able to express their beliefs, to have, to be able to be people of conscience. I just think once the facts are established, people aren’t going to see this as discriminatory at all."

Quote:Texas Sen. Ted Cruz: “Courageous”

"Gov. Pence is holding the line to protect religious liberty in the Hoosier State,” Cruz said in a statement. “Indiana is giving voice to millions of courageous conservatives across this country who are deeply concerned about the ongoing attacks upon our personal liberties. I’m proud to stand with (Indiana Gov. Mike Pence), and I urge Americans to do the same.”

Newsflash, conservatives:  stopping you from being a discriminatory asshole is not infringing on your religious freedoms.

Well, I'm sorry, but if you believe in disrespecting basic human rights, your beliefs are not to be respected.

Fucking Cruz is always late to the party.  Pence is tap-dancing all over the place trying to get out from under the shitstorm he unleashed on himself.

@DeistPaladin - That's called violation of a contract, and it's a whole different problem - Usually western states demand a compensation (monetary) when someone violates the terms and agreements.

From the article:
Quote:In his latest effort to clarify the Indiana's controversial new "religious freedom" law, embattled Gov. Mike Pence called on lawmakers Tuesday to pass legislation clarifying that it does not allow business owners to discriminate in providing services.
So what is this going to mean? They can object, but they still have to provide the service?
"I hate you fags, but I'll bake your fucking cake."
Is this what it's going to be? If so, I can't see that it will do anything but harm.

South Carolina wants to be like Illinois.

Only worse:
Quote:According to Logo TV’s New Now Next, the language in the bill is so broad that it would allow hospitals to reject gay patients.

“Pharmacists in the Tar Heel State could refuse to dispense contraceptives, infertility drugs, HIV treatments and transplant-rejection drugs—as all are incompatible with various religious denominations,” Alexander Stevenson wrote.
(emphasis is mine)
What the fuck is wrong with people? You want to allow someone to die because they have a different imaginary friend than you? Really?

And faithers wonder why we want nothing to do with their bullshit.
