At this point, only the Deep South is not humming that tune. Oh sorry, them and Fox News.

You insulting otheres and you being an ass. What a shame that you come off as full of hate towards many here. Why bother to stay on these boards if you really can't stand any one that's here?
My threads generally ask a question to elicit discussion whereas your threads are about how your friends treated you "badly" because you decided to insult their religious views. I have similar friends on Facebook who act just like you and anger our more conservative friends because of their radical left views....I am quite a bit more radical left, but never get into issue with it because I don't go around bragging about it on Facebook save for a few Green Party posts during the 2012 elections.
Also, my friends would not have known I was a Christian had I not had to provide an actual answer as to why I could not date a divorced women or eat an aforementioned food.
Live by this motto, none of your friends really give a shit about your views. You will live a much more happy life with that in mind.
For starters, it was ONE thread. Not all my threads. Secondly, you aren't on my facebook friends list so please refrain from assuming to know anything about my facebook wall. Thirdly, you didn't even bother to read what I said about it. If making a post on HOW to talk to an atheist is insulting someone else's religious views, then they (and you because you miss the point and don't get it) need to check themselves because obviously they don't get it. Fourth - you don't know how I act so stop assuming to know. Fifth - where did I ever say I was bragging about anything?
Live by this motto: Don't go around assuming things because we all know how ASSume is spelled.

So does Christianity really make people joyous? I don't see much sign of it, though I do know a couple joyous Christians.

No, that's not the point I'm trying to make; but that is a revealing insight into your filters. Perhaps one day you'll learn how to read and interact with people, without imposing or projecting your own stereotypes.
Perhaps.

Of course not. Completely understandable.

Your assumption is incorrect; your inability to admit error, obvious.
At any rate, cling to your misapprehensions. They don't affect me one whit, except to incite in me laughter.

I suppose you have to ignore the whole "thought crime" thing that jesus brought in order to be happy, right?

Most of the joyous Christians I know are joyous for the wrong reasons, like delighting in the supposed eternal torment of unbelievers.
And I think being perpetually joyous is delusional anyway. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes they hurt. Sometimes they're exceedingly unfair. And even when you realize that the notion of fairness is an artificial construct, that doesn't make the frustration go away. And it's far healthier to actually express those emotions than to bury them under the idea that things are okay even when they're really not.
Life can be joyous. It's just not joyous all the time. And it's those meh-to-horrible times that make the good times good.

What city would that be?
Judi. You had a thread explaining what you did on Facebook. From what you claimed to have posted on Facebook, I am not the least bit surprised some of your friends called you out. Forget about that already? It's not hard to make an assumption about what you post when you tell everyone here about it. You're like those GOP politicians who whine when we use their quotes against them.
Tan. Just stop trying. You can't teach an old Southerner new tricks it seems. Oh and nice assumption on me on being a non-American. What was that about you whining about people projecting stereotypes again?

Seems like it's the closer they get to the left, politically, that influences that. All the right wing christians here are vicious, sour-faced vultures, whereas my christian mother in-law is one of the nicest, happiest people I know. She also happens to be left wing and married to a woman, and if you think about it, even the more liberal christians on here are the ones that also seem nicer too; I'd much rather hang out with a pre-conversion Jacobsmooth or Lek than I would... well, I don't want to point fingers.
Hell, now that I think about it, the family I married into is a perfect cross-section of this: the left wing family members are the nice, sweet ones, whereas the right wing ones have either burned so many bridges they've got nowhere else to turn (not coincidentally all of those bridges were burned by their actions alone, over issues of conservative public policy and their overlapping religious concerns) or have and will stab you in the back for their own personal gain.
There's probably other factors involved, but I can't deny there's a trend there.

I seriously doubt any of those Christians are minorities.
