I would accept god if she bought me a fancy drink and meal. I'm a hopeless romantic, I guess.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
Yes, there were so many holes in it to start with, you can drive a diesel powered horizonal rock crusher AND sorter through it sideways.
No God, No fear.

I was going to ask what the hell kind of a theist are you anyways, but then I saw that you are catholic and now it all makes sense. This is like a kiddy romper room! There is no exchange of ideas or anything of substance.... mostly idiotic sarcasm and bullshit.
The reason most of you say "no"... or have avoided, and toyed with the question is because you "don't know". And rather than admit to that you fuck around. Then side track the whole deal by assuming my intentions, motives and and religious makeup.... always assuming, and speculating rather than looking for answers. The basic premise of my question is pretty simple and obvious... but as usual, you so called atheists make it as complicated as you can, so you can avoid the truth. The problem is that your thick, numb skulls refuse any abstract logic at all. It has to fit into your tiny box of rocks. And if it doesn't, it all gets rejected offhandedly like a snot on your finger tip. I've been here long enough to watch the blatant bias when the exact same question is posed by either side. At least the Christians here are open-minded and willing to listen to opposing views. Most of you are as genuine as a cigar store Indian. All show and no substance. Always a cat & mouse game instead of intelligent exchanges. Its laborious just trying to put a sentence together that you won't twist all up into an unrecognizable party balloon! It always comes down to: "Show me god, and I'll consider believing in it.... after a few questions of course." When in fact, the [questions] should come first! But, "no". No, no, no! "We don't want anything to tear down this high wall of insulation we've built for ourselves." You want real? How bout the great equalizer... Death! Unless you've been there and back, you don't know. Yes the axe swings both ways on that issue. But, I'm not the one saying "no". If I'm wrong there are no consequences. Talk amongst yourselves...
Quis ut Deus?
I'd like to try out this "absence from god" thing for a while, and see if I can tell the difference.

Wrong. If you are wrong you could end up wherever Allah sends the infidels. Don't be so obtuse.
You're right. I don't know the answer to your question. I cannot even begin to consider an answer until you tell me what god you are referring to and what it means to accept this god as my god. (May 31, 2015 at 5:57 pm)ronedee Wrote: So far I like the 8 y/o answer. Because that is what truly matters to a benevolent God. "From the mouths of babes...." OH! You don't just mean any god, you mean the one you believe in. I would believe in him if real proof were presented. Of course meeting him in all his glory would count as proof, at least if I was sure it wasn't a dream, or something like that. So assuming I believe and I meet my maker, would I love him? Depends on what he's like. Love isn't something you can just do. Either you do or you don't. Would I obey him? Probably, he seems like a pretty vengeful guy and all powerful is well, all powerful. Prudence would suggest care in how I dealt with him. But, I really don't want Yahweh to exist. He's an ugly, ugly figure as depicted by the Bible.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I apologize for my rude comment. I am seriously on edge today. Usually much more polite. I should probably just refrain from commenting for a while. |
