As Rhythm already pointed out, nobody did this. Nice bit of misrepresentation you've got going on there.
Well that's good. I assumed he was implying as much when he talked about Christians saying gay people are vile. My apologies.

Vic, I don't think I deserve to be called a liar here. Take a look at our convo:

Can you post a where I said this to you, as not an opinion? I don't remember ever doing so, and don't believe I would.
I never said this as being some sort of order rather than an opinion.
Yes you do, you take a look at it. I said 'ddon't tell me to be kind, that's not your opinion'. Then I showed where you did just that. 'be kind to the newb' is not a fucking opinion, Cathy. Own up to it.

You are pointing it out like a whiny bitch with no other actual come back though.
Thanks.
Apparently it's not enough to not be upset when compared to horrible entities like the KKK and the Nazis.
I still get called a whiny b----.

I clarified, 2 posts after that, that it WAS my opinion and that you can do whatever you want.
Didn't you see? I'm sorry I didn't write IMHO in the first post, my mistake, but I clarified 2 posts later that it was.

You're being very sly here.
You know full well what he means but are insistant on playing dumb, just like you did with that video I posted. Christians do say gay people are vile. Christians do promote many barbaric views. Just because you see yourself as one of the ones who cherry picks the nice bits about their faith, doesn't mean your faith is all roses and chocolate. To come back to the video I posted, the point of it is that it's not the peaceful, free loving majority that are the (main) problem. It's the rare few, who do hold the 'extreme' views that are the ones who go out doing fucked up things.
But here's what you keep ignoring. It's people like you, who bury their head in the sand and pretend everything about their religion is loving and peaceful, that are enablers for all those other fucks to do wrong. The bottom line is your religion, and the catholic church especially, are responsible for god awful atrocities, that are still going on today. And you simply saying "not every christian" is irrelevant.

There's your problem right there. Humility. We're not used to that in our AF theists. Try being an assertive ass hat instead. See how that goes.

Imagine a society in which it was thought to be "out of bounds", taboo, socially..or even legally - to criticize or otherwise comment upon a persons opinions from a particular source...such as the quran. Imagine, for a moment, that you advocate for the maintenance of this taboo...on grounds of respect (just as one example). Now imagine that you are a moderate living -in- this society. People will express views which, frankly, disgust you...but due to social or legal coercion you are compelled to remain silent, and it would be difficult to do otherwise..particularly after having advocated for this situation in the first place.
Now, when (not if...when) a fanatic -uses- the platform that you have helped to create in order to commit some heinous act, it will be, at least in part...because you provided them with the platform in the first place - perhaps with the best of intentions, but simultaneously with a dearth of foresight that can only be described as tragic. Your society, perhaps your religion..will have been perverted, subsumed, and completely debased.......and you will have been an accomplice in that, a willing partipant...an advocate, even.
This happens with regularity, it happened with your church in the inquisition, for example....it happened in the US with McCarthyism (though it was a different sort of taboo).....the production of these sorts of taboos leads almost -inevitably- to misery. People stayed silent as their own institutions made their inexorable march towards predation....out of respect, until it was no longer respect which kept them silent, but fear.
Now, perhaps had people opened their mouths, resisted, spoke up...things would have played out largely the same - but we disincentivize this a great many ways (this is what you're suggesting), even so...had they spoke up and failed - at least they tried...or allowed -others- to try by not enforcing such a taboo themselves or lending any credence to it as social etiquette.

Just being assertive would be nice.
Oh and we've had some pretty humble theists. Rayaan, Ryft, Tackatack, Jacob (when he was actually a theist). It's not like we haven't seen a polite person before. There's a difference between being polite and deserving respect and being polite and not deserving respect.
