The Paradox of Power....
RE: The Paradox of Power....

If anything, he was something of a latter-day deist in the mold of Spinoza. You worshipers of the desert goat-fuckers' god don't get to claim him as your own.

So we've established (just as I knew) that your objection to homosexuality is Bible based -- or, in the real world, also known as bigotry hiding behind religion. But no one will take you seriously if we think you are living your life based on what some character in a storybook allegedly said. So how about you demonstrate to us that Yahweh is real? Quoting the Bible doesn't cut it when you're trying to argue with atheists.

If it does, if it doesn't . . . what difference does it make? He has nothing but baseless assertions and Bible quotes. Fortunately we have a couple of Catholics here who understand how to carry on a conversation.

How do you live without hope?

Oh my, this turned out bad like right away. Why do you assume I live without hope? I have plenty of hope, because I have plenty to live for. I've got a lovely wife that I just married earlier this year, I've got a career in writing I'm getting off the ground, a great family and plenty of aspirations for the future too. That's perfectly hopeful to me; why would you make the leap from "atheist" to "no hope," anyway?

Quote:If homosexuality is right, then how come two people of the same sex not produce a child?

See, here we're running into some problems where you're making baseline assumptions about me based on misconceptions you have about atheists generally; you've already assumed I have no hope, and now you're assuming some kind of moral endorsement of homosexuality, which it isn't safe to do because you don't know me. Atheists are united on just one issue, that we don't believe in a god; every other position can vary between atheists, so when I say "I'm an atheist," you can't just assume a whole bunch of other positions about me, that's not a safe bet to take.

Regarding homosexuality, I do happen to endorse that, and your question is... weird. I don't think the moral status of a relationship has anything to do with its ability to produce a child, I think it has to do with love and the overall effect each partner has on the others. Moreover, I wouldn't make blanket statements like "homosexuality is right," either, I'd address the question on an individual basis, since homosexuality is just another form of sexual/romantic relationships.

It would also be apt to point out to you that not all straight couples can produce a child either; some are infertile, others don't want kids... are their unions morally wrong in your eyes, given that they share the same basis for moral wrongness that you've pointed to in gay couples? Or are straight, childless couples morally okay in your eyes? In that case, isn't your determination of right and wrong in relationships based on something other than child-bearing capabilities? Is adoption or artificial insemination okay in your book? If so, isn't it true that gay couples can produce a child after all?

So sex with a woman who is no longer fertile -- right, or wrong?

Sex with your sterile husband -- right, or wrong?

Do you see what a stupid standard that is?

How do you live without hope? You nearly answered that one but not to the full,
Okay
You have a wonderful plan in your family
  • You have a wife and you said "she is lovely" And you think she's going stay like that for ever?
  • You have a good career
  • You have a good family
These are your main point, but let me say that when all these aspect's are reached, and some your aspects might fail. What will be your inner hope?

If creationist's can't be scientist's why are there creation scientist's with professional degrees in science?

Examples

Dr. Georgia Purdom-Molecular Geneticist
Dr. David Menton-Biologist,Anatomist
Dr. Danny R. Faulkner-Astronomer
Dr. Nathaniel T. Jeanson-Research Biologist

And

If Christianity is false, then why is it popular?

Quote:If creationists can’t do science, then why do Kent Hovind and Duane T. Gish, who are creation scientists, have professional degrees in science?

You're right on Gish, wrong on Hovind, who has no scientific degrees or credentials whatsoever. Gish had done some creditable scientific work, but he was dead wrong regarding biological evolution.

Quote:If Christianity is false, then why is it popular?

Popularity is not a measure of truth. Astrology is popular, for example.
