Atlas: You miss the point of the question. I'm asking what would be sufficiently convincing to you. How would the real God convince you that he was the real God?
Do you have any kind of criteria or would you just eye it up and take a guess?
I'm not really trying to establish that I am God. It was just a way of framing the question. I seem to have confused several people with that, apologies.

I know what you mean; it's obvious to me that you have something to prove with that question
I have a criteria, I would test what he says against life; validate it bit by bit. Being paranoid never hurts in these topics.
If what he says, answers the question I put forth, then I have no reason not to believe in him.
It happens that the only religion that has 600 pages of direct speech from God to people is Islam, that speech answered all my questions, thus : my criteria was met.

Evidence he exists. Not so much an ability but still more than any other god proposal to date.

Actions speak about their source. The sun exists but I don't worship it, even though it melts stuff from far distance and provide rays of goodness to our planet and hence : it is very big and bright; but its actions are not so sufficient to call it God.
God's actions speak for him; if the Quran wasn't here I would've worshiped the reason/the cause behind the universe; i.e an intelligent entity called "God".

I don't understand this, but thanks for answering anyway.

Maybe you should?

Actually it trumps (your version of) god in every respect. It's extremely powerful and gave life to everything on the planet. It can (and will) even take it all away again over time. It's amazing.

Get a bunch of goatherders to cobble together a very badly written book full of horrible shit and talking snakes, then allow it to be mistranslated repeatedly. That ought to work. That's highly convincing and compelling apparently.
P.S. FUCKING EPIC THREAD IDEA! Kudos to you Rob!

@ Rob, good job asking your followers for advice... or um, testing them, yeah that's what you're doing... testing them. You are testing us right?

Atlas: I've been trying to get my head around your answer. So this entity is standing in front of you, and to find out if it's god, you ask it some questions? And if it gives the answers from the Quran, then it's god? How do you know it's not just someone who has memorized the Quran?
What questions would you ask it? How can you tell if this is the being that wrote the Quran?

You can start by quoting 10 OT prophecies fulfilled by your personal history, die and stay dead for three days then appear to a couple hundred people in a glorified state.
