Why do you keep bringing up evolution, when just about everybody has said it's irrelevant to being an atheist? Do you, by any chance, have some agenda you want to push?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

To the OP, the fantasy delusion dribble that I was exposed as a child to stopped working.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Not believing is the default position.
Do you understand that concept?
Being driven to atheism is what happens when you're not driven to church and brainwashed....
Sad but true...
This is good, a lot of you have said this, but I like how this is worded. " Not believing is the default position". Now if only it can be said without the baggage of evolution following behind. I have a question, do you believe in evolution as a fallback to believe in something, as the National Acadamy of Sciences tells you to, or do you believe in evolution for the sake of evolution itself.'' Not believing is the default position'' can stand on its own. I think it would do atheism better to leave it out.
You are correct. Disbelief in any claim is the default position. The time to start believing something is when it is supported by demonstrable, repeatable, falsifiable evidence and reasoned argument.
And you know what? There are mountains of evidence to support evolution as the best model to explain the diversity of life on Earth. Evolution has been observed in the lab and in the field.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I should have said a parent would not doom their child if they did not believe in them. Did not want the post to go in that direction. As I said, I am not an atheist basher, but i'm sure you guys get a lot of it, so I understand the defensiveness. I did say I believe you reject God, and I was corrected as to say ''The concept of God'', also, some say they were born atheists, which is a new thought for me. Thats why I started this post, the 3 athiests I talk to seem to be pissed off at God, and I knew there was something more. I still believe God does not care if you believe in him or not. And the lack of evidence is so we can determine our lives in a way that would not be possible otherwise. Once again, I did not say anything about evolution, holy books, or whatever else most of you guys are used to hearing.
I applaud you making corrections in your perceptions. That is more than most theists that come here seem to be capable of. Even after being corrected many times, still claim we "hate god".
So, the the texts that depict the Christian god character and the Muslim god character make it clear that disbelief will lead to some sort of punishment by said gods. So, it would seem you do not believe in either of those gods. Do you mind informing us which god you do believe exists?
And more importantly, why are you convinced that this god exists? And why should we be convinced?
I might screw up my wordage again, but I simply believe in God. A thinking puposeful God who created creatures like us. I believe he expects us to behave in a certain way, and everyone knows what I am talking about. We all have the monkey on our back trying to persuade us in different directions. But you guys believe this is from evolution. I simply believe their are two facets to life. 1. In the end, what have you done for your fellow man. 2. Have you learned how to love. Are you full of love, do you love yourself, and have you passed that love onto others. Its mushy, but I believe this is the key to life. Not that terrible things don't happen, so no, I do not have any answers or know the details. Evidence? As I said, if there was, there would be no evil, everyone would get along. But you can not get free will to work properly unless there is no evidence. With it we would all behave acourdingly. This is hard to do in a post!!!

Marko, you sound like a genuine person who just believes in God.
There's no problem with that. We just want everyone to be happy.
You believe and have faith because there is no proof, otherwise we'd all know and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
You don't believe in the thousands of other gods throughout history except the one your parents told you about.
If you were born in America, your one true god would be the Christian God and the bible would be your sacred textbook.
Do you see how easy it is for us to see that.
Just think about that.
Whatever brings you peace man... Each to their own...
PS.
Your English is quite good.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

What you believe is immaterial, next to what you can demonstrate. You can believe six impossible things before breakfast - literary reference - but if you can't show your work, all you've done is masturbate yourself into mental exhaustion.

I asked why you are convinced that a god exists, and you wrote a paragraph telling me what you believe.
I already know, in general terms, what you believe. But I want to know why you believe. Why are you convinced?
I live my life with the desire to have as many true beliefs as possible, and as few false beliefs. There are methods that are proven to achieve that on a consistent basis. That method is basing ones beliefs on demonstrable evidence, reasoned argument and valid and sound logic.
Believing just because you "simply believe" is not a path to truth. It is no different than gullibility. Same goes for believing based on faith.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

You guys are funny. You really believe you are outside the box. We all believe what makes us comfy, to a point. I have no evidence, but neither do you. You don't even know you need evidence, "I am an athiest". You think that is a catch all phrase. We all need evidence. Mine is found inside myself, yours is found outside yourself. We all wonder why bad things happen to good people, why do we love, where does hate, justice, etc. come from, whats it all about. You put on a front like it dosn't matter, or you never think of such things. You think its from our neurons or whatever. I'm sure you believe in evolution, talk about your mental masterbation. But you do believe its from something. Come back down to Earth. And one more thing, thanks for the comment about my english--Public Schools

We don't need evidence, because we're not the ones trying to prove anything.
