The former and the latter are -both- the same lame illogical excuse...but it hardly matters..if we're discussing flaws in the quran...which I thought we were.

Explain. To me the former seems logical. You have to show how they are the same illogical excuse.

I do not.  -You- showed them to be the same claim in your description...you called one a lame excuse...I'm insisting that you be consistent.   Here again, though, I wonder why you felt that this was a flaw in the quran?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

MK: I generally stop because I can't understand what you're talking about anymore, and I've made this clear every time.

I have been as polite as possible about it. I've heard you out plenty, but if you don't make sense, I can't even reply, can I? I know you think you make sense, but most of the time you do not.

I can't offer any more than that.

You can show me what you don't understand. Show me the best you can come up with in your own words that you think I'm trying to say. And I can correct you on that or elaborate.

They often, intentionally or otherwise, present strawman reasons so that they don't actually care if they get cut down.

Regarding indoctrination, I do understand that most of the time it's probably done because it's felt to be in the child's best interest. I just happen to think that it is totally not in their best interest at all. If it's true, it will still be there when they've learnt how to think. If you're worshiping something that has already started scoring black marks against children that can't think properly yet, then he's more evil than I thought.

I was at a public library about a year ago and overheard a woman home schooling her two small children.  I was a believer then, but still horrified by what I heard.  They were taking turns reading out of their science text book, which read like a more exhaustive version of the Genesis Creation account.  I don't remember everything I heard, but I clearly remember hearing the little girl read "...when God made the mountains..."  Again, I was a believer and I still felt that this was child abuse.  Those poor children are going to grow up with so much prejudice and ignorance about how the world actually works.

Yeah, once more the mark against religion is really a mark against fundamentalism and blind allegiance to dogma.

We know what you are saying, you don't know what you are saying. We do not doubt your sincerity in claiming it, we accept your word that you truly believe what you claim. What we doubt is your perception of reality.

Here is what you are mentally doing to yourself needlessly.

1. "I want this to be true"

2. "It has lots of pretty things I like in it"

3. "Other people like it as well"

4. "It has to be true because it is popular"

Again MK this is not even making fun of you. This is literally an explanation as to what leads you to your bad use of logic. This is what causes people of ALL religions to make a variety of god claims and religions.

Our species perceptions of reality are notoriously flawed and unfortunately we gap fill and god claims and religions as ideas are a result of that gap filling. I hope someday for your sake you can see what we see. Reality isn't frightening at all. You are not making arguments we have not seen from any other religion.

MK: I have tried extremely hard. I could have given up ages ago, but I've continued to make a big effort. I've tried many times to ask you to explain, and your explanations continue to make no sense. The fact that you see me as making not enough effort is astonishing to me. I've been as polite as I can possibly be, and I think it's time I called it a day with debating you. It's clearly not achieving anything.
