They are Muslims indeed but sometimes their actions are not a representation of what is Islam (such as burning down churches, for example).

They are burning down churches and demanding the death penalty because a Christian man insulted Islam and the Prophet. How is that NOT representing and defending Islam?

Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf (Arabic: كعب بن الاشرف‎) (died 624) was a chief of the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir and a poet, who plotted with Quraysh and a group of Jews to fight against Muslims and assassinate the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was assassinated by Muslims on the order of Muhammad before he could carry out his plans.

So, that's why the Prophet ordered his army to kill Ashraf as well as the rest of the Jews, which was done for self-defense because they were planning to assassinate the Prophet.

And if you're not supposed to kill someone for insulting your "prophet", why are there hordes of people looking to kill every time there is some perceived insult? The killers of Theo Van Gogh comes to mind. As do the mobs who demanded death for the editors of newspapers who published pictures of Mohammed. Not to mention all the retards who wanted to kill a school teacher for allowing her class to name a teddy bear "Mohammed".
