I have doubts about whether it would be just as healthy as the meat we eat right now.

I think it would be too expensive and not worth the cost of production.

I think it would be strange, to say the least. Unnatural. I can't imagine eating something grown in a lab.

Synthetic meat
Synthetic meat
No, I know. I just like to stick my nose into places that happen to be related to the one little area of this world I have expertise in. [emoji41]. No offense intended!

P.S. Overpopulation is the problem, not farming this or eating that.
Stop having 5 kids, you horny fuckers.

I'm terrible at arguing. I know I'm stupid, I'm told that several times a week so I don't know why I ever attempt an online discussion. I think I must be masochistic. OR just stupid. Probably the later. Lonely AND stupid, probably.

Now I'm having a terrible day, so I'm out of here for while again. Next time, someone tell me to stay out of it. Thanks.

RE: Synthetic meat
Perhaps you went off the rails in responding to some other conversation as though it were a reply to this one?  You didn't do much better addressing the ghost of that disagreement in any case.

Compost does not replace manure.  Green manures, do not replace animal manures.  Compost and green manures together, do not replace manures.  They are chemically incapable.  Don't take my word for it, go look it up.

Our animals would die if we stopped caring for them.  Farming them for other purposes is still caring for them...and gl to you, getting people to farm animals without availing themselves of the meat production opportunity in any case.  If you can show them how to make more money, as dairy farmers do, your own example...you might snag some.  That would be a good thing.  That's what I did, the bug that caught me and got me into what I do now.

No, farmland that is currently used for feeding cattle -cannot- obviously be used for feeding people.  I'm surrounded by such land, I own such land.  It's cost me alot to make it suitable for feeding people and I use an alternative model that isn;t reliant on the capacity of the land. If it were sufficient, they would be farming mixed vegetables on it rather than cattle feed or cattle. Those few that do have such land in the middle of all this pasture and feed -do- grow mixed vegetables (and still grow animal feed on that same land). Research land use and land classifications, and possibly crop rotations. Don't take my word for it.

What you call being a dick, I call correcting people on misinformation.  I care about this shit, I don't like to see it discredited by the peddlers of various nonsense and carried aloft on the winds by well meaning people like yourself.  It kills my business and breaks my heart.

You aggressively jumped into the convo with me by proposing non existent false dichotomies, apparently relating to your poor grasp of a previous conversation.   Now  you have the gall to whine about condescension, and stomp your feet, lol.

Thanks for the last word on that, appreciate it.

This research is going entirely in the wrong direction. I mean, fuck, I'm still waiting for my first shipment of Soylent Green to arrive.

Is it weird that all I can think about is the storage convenience options?  They could be cubes or uniform rectangles...or even more exotic space saving shape arrangements. Be able to cram more of these bad boys in the freezer. Helps to keep my yipping brood fed.

RE: Synthetic meat
I think the whole thing is fantastic and I hope it takes off, and soon.

Ironically, I probably won't be eating it, even though I don't eat meat now. I've not eaten it for so long that it makes me feel physically sick, even if I know it's not real. If it's too realistic, I can't eat it. Whether I could overcome that in time, I don't know.

I'm sure they'll be able to form it at a consistency and flavor you find suitable.

RE: Synthetic meat
That would be great. I eat "fake meat" all the time at the moment, because it's just enough removed that it doesn't cause a bad association. My concern is that they're aiming for maximum realism, to draw in current meat eaters. Unless they also produce intentionally "less realistic" versions, it may not be for me.

But I'd far rather they got it spot on and won the market than worrying about if I'll eat it or not. It's just a weird kind of irony for me.

I've done more than my share in diverting literally trillions, if not quadrillions of motile sperms from various and sundry ovulated fallopian tubes.

Wake me up when they can make it indistinguishable from a ribeye, porterhouse, or yummy lamb chops. I'm not holding my breath.
