I don't hate "rednecks" . . . but I do hate the anti-intellectual, hypocritical, egotistical, power-mongering, idiotic culture of a lot of protestant fundamentalist churches. And I have seen many pastors get "sent away" for rape - the lead pastor of one xtian school I attended got half of the 7th grade girls pregnant. (12-13 year olds). So I do know what you are talking about. People like Kim Davis or Westboro . . .

This isn't all the same. There are very nice and gentle uneducated people. Intelligent ones for that matter. I only despise the ignorants riding the high horse and taking pride in their ignorance. And they come in all shades and colors. Not only what is commonly called a redneck.

I find "rednecks" no more bigoted than any other set of individuals; Including most liberal types. Some of the most ignorant, vile, hateful shit I've ever heard spewed has come from individuals who undoubtedly regard themselves as high thinking and enlightened.
Rednecks are just better at being obvious.

One side of my family is filled with rednecks. They may be uneducated, but not willfully so.
There are ignorant rednecks, there are certainly willfully ignorant rednecks, but there are willfully ingorant and pompous people of all stripes.
As an aside, I got a voicemail message from my Uncle Charlie not too long ago congratulating me about school and wishing me well, and it ended with, "Now Mahke, you go ahead an' make sure you vote for Donald Trump now, he's gonna change this country for the better, ye' hear?" He's a good ol' southern boy; he probably had a chaw in and a Budweiser in his hand as he did it. He is a redneck, and I love that man.
