Homicide makes no distinction of intent, It could be intentional or unintentional, murder clearly implies intent, distinguishing between the two isn't semantics.

You quoted murder statistics when discussing homicide even as you mention that the one is a subset of the other. You are equivocating the two terms.

End of argument.
*Sigh*

All murders ARE homicides but all homicides AREN'T murder why don't you understand that?

How many mass shootings have there been in, say, Australia, after the one big one they had prompted reasonable gun control legislation that, unfortunately for the fear mongering "dey gunna tek urr gunns!" rhetoric of WoG, prompted a voluntary buy-back and still allowed people to own guns so long as they actually needed them for something? How many, in the over twenty years?

Less than there have been in America this week.

But the pro-gun side simply refuses to learn from other countries, despite that clear, unambiguous example. Either they simply won't consider points counter to their terrified, gun-humping propaganda, or they somehow think that America is this huge exception to the rule where the opposite is what will work, despite not having worked in the years before that. Neither position has any justification, but they won't let go of them, because this was never about solving the problem in the first place for them.

People here in the states think having a gun makes them invincible to shootings, and even more ridiculous, to the off chance our government decides to go rogue. They're gonna band together and shoot at the tanks and drones. Now some people are just enthusiasts, but a lot of people I personally know think they can hold off the Military, and that's why they hold tight to their gun rights.

In the meantime, I just surrender to the fact that I could be shot at any minute.
The good news is that if you are shot dead you won't suffer from cancer and then die.

You will never get out of life alive.  Death is a relentless hunter and it always wins.

No shit Sherlock, yes death gets everyone at some point. I don't see how stating that fact has a fucking thing to do with the need to reduce gun deaths. So your answer to gun death is "Shit happens?" Why have any fucking laws at all then?

Also there are more guns in the U.S. than automobiles, yet more deaths are attributed to automobiles, so your logic kind of fails.

Btw, mind posting your stats for vending machine related deaths?

Huggy the issue here is the fact that there is terrible gun regulation and having better gun regulation would have prevented this.

Not necessarily.  It prevented nothing in Paris or Brussels.  Both countries have quite strict gun regulation.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I do. You simply want to substitute in one set of statistics to support a claim about another, and you're sore because it's being pointed out.

That's your problem, not mine.

You said murder isn't always homicide, yet you proffer homicide statistics for guns and compare them to all autoobile deaths. You're either being dishonest or dull ... which is it?

I haven't fact-checked this, but I read today that Mr. Obama has appeared before the cameras 14 times since becoming president to deliver remarks about mass shootings. Fourteen times in less than eight years.

America...has...a...gun...violence...problem.

This last one was number 15.

I stand dejectedly corrected. With all these shootings, how is it possible that so many USians still try to maintain the point that guns aren't the issue?

Who likes to accept the pointing finger? Gun-owners reject it because they feel such makes them complicit.

They want guns, for the same reason little kids like to play with toy guns. To feel badass. And they haven't learned to discriminate between bullshit arguments that give them what they want and arguments based on facts.

NRA: "Bad guys will get their hands on guns anyway because they're bad guys, so the only thing gun regulations will do is prevent good guys from protecting themselves with guns."

Anyone with common sense: "The data don't support that. Look at Australia, Japan, etc. The data overwhelmingly support the effectiveness of regulations in preventing gun deaths."

NRA: "You're just saying that because you're meanies who want to take our guns away. You love it when shootings happen because it gives you an excuse to try to take our guns away!"

Which is another way of saying we've got a lot of immature, foolish people in America. More per capita than they have in Japan and Australia, anyway.
