in murky water at 9pm... If this does not set off alarm bells, then it is time that we as a society had a reminder not to do this.
And we got one. So now we can all sit around judging these parents from the comfort of our own homes with our own live children. Meanwhile, their son is still dead.
Like I said, the parents are responsible for protecting their child. They made a terrible mistake and they have to live with the consequences.
The park is also responsible for their guests and they should put up a sign or *gasp* a fucking fence. It seemed like they were having some sort of outdoor movie event. You know who is faster on land humans or alligators?

As an adult I would never put my feet into unfamiliar water I could not see the bottom of. *shudder*
Plus...it's after 9pm. Put your two-year-old to bed, ffs.
(Drich, if someone told me I'd be agreeing with you so vehemently some day, I probably would have laughed in their face, lol. [emoji13])

I agree that regardless of who is laying blame on who, a fence and/or a more obvious sign is the right thing to do going forward.

The moccasins we have here are not aggressive, but they are steadfast in defense. Working at the nature preserve, I saw scores of them, and modulated the interactions between thousands of visitors and the wildlife. Not one bite, or attempted bite.
A friend of mine who lives in Deland over by Daytona says that the moccasins he's seen are aggressive, too. It may be that Eastern mocs -- which is what y'all have -- are more aggressive than our Western mocs. Here, they're not an issue unless you give them trouble.
Here's a couple of pics from when I worked there --
I almost stepped on that last one. Rather than attack, he promptly fled the scene, getting to the creek and swimming away.

I don't mind a drich day just so long as i do not have to come up with anything inspiring or agreeable once a year on that day. That is far too often and way too much pressure.

I personally won't be celebrating the degradation of parents who just lost their young son. It's so easy to be judgmental when you're not the one whose child is dead.

They need to put a fence and signs around the whole damn State. It's full of dangerous animals and crazy people.
