Live CDs cam also be "burned" to a USB stick, thus avoiding the pain of wasting an actual DVD...

A normal DVD R that fits like 80 minutes of WAV file music on it?
I dunno how to do a partition or find the partition wizard. I'm wary of partioning my HDD in case it fucks stuff up when everything is running so smoothly right now.

Yes, a normal DVD-R.
The partition wizard would be part of the install wizard, just like it is when you installed Windows.
But if Windows 10 works for you, there's no need for Linux.

That's why the first thing I always do after fresh installation is to immediately disable all updates! Saves a lot of headaches later.
